Started this page. Added the Manufacturer’s chart, Large screenshot of Streets & Trips map containing all Southern California AP’s I’ve acquired as well as a smaller map for just Orange County.

I’m looking for NS1 files that have accurate GPS information. Please email me your files, especially from Southern California. Email me yours and I’ll give you a link to my complete Excel spreadsheet with all of mine ready to import into Streets & Trips or Delorme Street Atlas.

I’ve been working on a car PC system for a while now and I’ve had 802.11b in it from day 1. It finally hit me that I could be using Netstumbler during my everyday driving and pick up AP’s with no effort on my part whatsoever. So, about a month and a half ago, I started. A buddy of mine saw what I was doing and he started doing it with his laptop and GPS. Now, while still searching for AP’s on my own, I am also looking for other people who have accurate GPS info for their NS1 files to add to my collection. After seeing Ars Technica’s article about WarFlying, that struck a chord in me. My next project will be to try and talk my boss’s pilot into letting me hook my laptop up to the external 12db antenna on my boss’s Gulfstream G4 and see what I can pick up at 30,000 feet at 450 knots. Probably nothing, but who knows? Has anyone tried it? My next flight on the jet will be sometime in November though for sure. I’ll try and get an earlier flight some time, IF I can get it cleared to use the external antenna that is.

Added a Detailed Orange County Map which is a closer look of “South County”. Not a big deal really, but you can see more of the major street names on this one at least. Added about 250 more AP’s to the list and we’re up to 1,357 AP’s now.
