Swampy

Some of you know, when I was in Alaska, I had lost part of a hood in the ocean from my 400mm lens. The Lens hood is carbon fiber and in two sections. From manufacturing, they didn't put enough glue on it to hold it all together. You can see the glue marks, what little there was anyway.
This was July. So, I go back to where I bought it (Samy's) and they give me the run around and finally tell me Nikon wants me to ship them the WHOLE lens to see what happened before they'll think about replacing the hood under warranty. Why not just inspect the remaining portion of the hood? Who knows.
I decided I've been screwed for less money than it's worth. For the time away from the lens and the shipping/insurance costs, it just wasn't worth it to send the whole thing in.. So I decided to order a new hood from B&H. This is August mind you.
With all the hustle and bustle the last 3-4 days, I haven't had time to say anything, but I got the hood finally, late last week. 4 months after ordering it.
