Hi All,

I am posting in here for some inspiration and some quality advice. Myself and Mary have decided to take a break, probably in August 2006, for between 10 and 14 days. Dates are not yet confirmed but we are looking for a break somewhere in the South West of the UK.

We won't have any children during this period so are looking for some quality shooting time. The reason we chose the SW of the UK is that I would like to get a couple of days in at Longleat for the animals.

Critieria:

Accomadation needed (not fussed whether B&B, self catering etc)
Looking to shoot animals, macro & wildlife as opposed to scenery or landscapes.
Preferably within driving distance of Longleat for at least a couple of days.

Anyone taken an extended break in this neck of the woods and can recommend anything? B&B's/Hotels/Mobile Home Parks? Areas of interest to visit? Anyone know of any "Photographic Holidays" in this area? Any of our Forum members got a mobile home/holiday home down that way that they rent out? (Would rather put my hard earned money into your pocket than some faceless company)

Not had a holiday for a long, long time so looking forward to some quality time away.

All help appreciated.

We stayed here last year and enjoyed it:

The prices were reasonable and so were the breakfasts. It may not be as west as you like, but we found it a good base to do day trips all around the west.

If you decide to visit Stonehenge, you can book it online where they will actually let you into the circle before or after regular hours. That is a must for photos.

Thanks for your input Guys.

Have now got confirmed dates - 21st August - 3rd september - Mary MADE me reschedule everything so that we definately got the time off, bless her cotton socks. It is our first holiday together without the children, so we're looking forward to the break.

Some good suggestions, going to have a look round the www for locations and places to stay. Cornwall & Devon for 10 of the 14 days is looking good, a place I've not been to since I was a nipper.

Thanks for the input, appreciate it.
