Picture the scene ....... on a shoot of very small children (walking to 2 years old .. yes that small!!) which had been quite tiring, and we had a 15 minute break. I decided to go pick up a few of the props, in this case a ball, and plonked myself down on the trampoline we had been using for a quick breather.
Quick as a flash, Mary picked up the S2 and started shooting ..... unfortunately *I* was the subject and not the other way round for a change. These are very rare photographs ..... ones actually taken of me!!!!! She wanted to show me using the photographic medium just how tired I look and that I really need a day or two off. After looking at these, I guess she is right.
All critique welcome and encouraged because I didn't take them, and Mary deserves everything she gets from you guys

Mark, you look so tired indeed. That means Mary's first shoot is successful - she captured your mood/state exactly :righton:
BTW, I like #2 technically too

I think Mary needs an assistant. Is that your new job? :)

Special shots – I don't think another photographer would have captured that expression. Keep them!

Hey Mary got you sitting up this time! No camera in front of your face either :)
You better go lay down in the grass and take some pictures now this seems to have tired you out ;)

I've allready said that your wife's a genius ! ...and i'm even more certain now that i've seen that she managed to take a NICE photo of you :evilnyah: !
Seriously, these are two very good portraits, the light is just great and she cought the "right moment" !
BTW, my first choice would be on pic #1, even if it reminds me of the time i had a dog at home (my twisted sense of humour, again...) !
Cheers,
J-P.

Yup, it wasn't that long ago you were seriously ill. REST is what you need.
Maz, now's the time to take him by the hand and escort him to a restful spot.
Nice work, though. I agree, you need to sit up straighter but the hunched shoulders still help show how much you need a rest.

Thanks Everyone,
Considering that Mary didn't pick up a DSLR until 1st/2nd April 2006, she has taken to it like a duck to water. I can't believe how quickly she has come on over the last few months.
She has spent an unbelievable amount of time on this Forum, reading, reading and more reading. She seems to be able to soak it up like a sponge, which is no bad thing. She is full of ideas, suggestions and things she wants to try and when work allows, she is off letting her creative juices flow.
A lot of this entusiasm is down to you guys, she looks at some of your postings and is inspired by what she sees and can't wait to get out and try something similar. This Forum, encompassing ALL members, has been an inspiration to both of us ........ long may it last!!
Now I'm off to buy a new tie and see if I can sneek in a day off somewhere in the diary. Seven days a week can take it's toll but when you are running your own business, days off become a luxury. A few more months and I'll be able to let Mary run riot with most of the Childrens Portrait contracts we have and I'll be able to skive off

Great first shots.
Now for the real critique. Both images have you set too far to the right of the picture, thats about it.
Nice general lighting. I think Mary should practice some lighting techniques on you, you can have a rest that way

Just to prove my point, look ....... I do all the work and Mary gets to play!!!!!!! A quick snapshot taken during a break today - same kind of shoot, different location, different kids.

Steve,
Why do you think I bought Mary a D70? Once hooked, it's all downhill and just a matter of time before Mary takes over
