I'm JEALOUS !
You're "the" portrait man just like Igor is "the" macro-man !
I LOVE your crop on #3 ! For my taste, it's the best of the 3 !!!
...wish i could learn how to make people relaxed enough to stand me in front of them with a camera ?!?!?
...in the "portrait" case, i beleive that the ART of it is much more to know how to make people look "normal" (as well as to know how to set the lightings) than to know how to use the camera :p !
Cheers,
J-P.

Definitely a WOW! Gotta love the Fuji colors ...of course, years of experience and good lighting help! Question regarding the white vinyl ..... I've used white roll paper, but never the vinyl ... is this a special 'photography vinyl, or is this something you pick up at your local Home Depot?

Bill

Thanks guys...

I purchased it from Backdrop Outlet... $99 for a 10x21, and it has outlasted my large roll of paper ($50) at least 10-12 times.
I wash it down with a little bleach or kitchen cleaner... I have had it more than a year, and it is time for a good washing (comercial washer with bleach). I have never done this, but I am taking it in this week, and I will let you know how it goes...
Pros:
10x21
Easy to Clean
Throw it in the dryer for 50min on high, comes out nice and warm for those babies, as well as removing any wrinkles (from the backdrop, not the babies)
Doesn't rip or tear
Cons:
Difficult to roll up, easier to fold, but folding causes wrinkles

Chris,
I use two lights, both are Alien Bees (www.alienbees.com), the main light is a B800 with a large softbox. The background light is a B400, with a barndoor attachment to control light overspill on High Key (white), or a grid to narrow the light for low key. I meter the main light at 1/125th @ f/8, and the background light at f/16 or f/22..
I have my main light attached to my camera via sync cord, while the background light fires when the main light goes off...
Chris, I shot everything high JPEG... I havent made the switch to RAW. When shooting children that are always moving, the S2 is too slow recording in RAW mode...
Chris, I will email you details about the setup tonight when I get home... I have a better setup image to show you on my home computer.
Here is my setup with three lights...
