Hi Gang,

I am in the market for the AF-S Nikkor 80-200/f2.8D. If anyone has one to sell in EX+ to MINT condition, please contact me?

THANKS!

would you consider a nikkor 80-200mm AF ED f2.8? Trying to remember, but I think it has the twist zoom on it, not the push pull. Anyway, if you're interested, I can ask my boss who has one, in great condition, if he wants to sell it since he has my 70-200mm VR right now and he'll probably want to grab that. :)

I took the pictures in the lens test forum here: http://s2pro.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1445 with that lens.

Hi Swampy,

Actually, I have the 80-200/2.8 2-ring Nikkor already (which I will sell soon). I played with a friend's AF-S version of this lens and fell in love with how fast it focusses. I've lost a number action shots in wildlife photography as a result of slow focus in the past, so I thought it was time to upgrade.

Or do you think I would be better off to save a few more pennies and get the 70-200/2.8G AF-S VR?

I went from using that 2 ringer to the VR, totally skipping the AF-S and I'm really glad I did because do a lot of handheld nature shooting and sometimes the VR comes in real handy when shooting at 1/20 to get a still shot that you wouldn't be able to get with either of the 80-200's.

It's really up to you, if you haven't thought about it far enough yet to be asking that question. Think about the situation above and if or how many times you'll be doing that. Low light, no tripod.

I would have been real happy with the AF, more happy with the AF-S and could have even stayed with either of these lenses, but after missing some low light shots with the AF, I'm glad I bought the VR. Besides, I like new fangled shiny toys. :D
