Just processed a few studio shots...
Like the colors produced by D200, but detail isn't that good IMO.
Comments and critique welcomed!

Hi Igor,
The colours seem quite good out of the D200, though not as good as the S2 - go figure that one
The only thing I would change about this shot is the position of Katya. IMHO a young Lady (or an older one for that matter) should be positioned so that her integrity and honour is always maintained :)
Not sure about the flowers. The idea is spot on, though the colours seem to clash with her dress some what.
You've certainly nailed the portrait side of things Igor, looking good!

Very good Igor,
Perhaps a tighter crop may help.
Also my only other critique would be to watch out for the hair light coming from the left onto the face as you look at the sublect. It has blown away the detail in the face and is a bit distracting imo.

Thanks Barbara.
Thanks Andrew, the tight crop really looks good.
Thanks Mark. Please explain what do you mean by "IMHO a young Lady (or an older one for that matter) should be positioned so that her integrity and honour is always maintained "... how would you (should I ) position the girl?

 .......eeerrrrrrr...... i guess Mark meant to say "in lighter words" that one souldn't -almost- see a lady's knickers !
For me, in such a case, it doesn't bother me, but in the principal, Mark is right !
Anyway, the little girl (yours ?) is very lovely and the choice of colors is nice too... Now for the D200 not rendering colors as well as the Fuji... maybe you could take one shot with the Nikon and double it with the Fuji ? IMHO and from my own tests, just a bit more PS work can get you exactly the same popping colors as you were used out of your S2 !
Cheers,
J-P.
PS. ....eeerrrr... Mark, correct me if i misunderstood :D !

Thanks JP.
Weeeeeellllllll........ now I'm totally confused
My dictionary gives "knickers" as "boy's wide trousers"... Maybe her dress looks like this??? If you might mean pants, I can't see them
JP, I don't have the S2 anymore, I sold it.

What a delightfull little girl, down to the scuffed knees, a lady and a tomboy at once!
I think if the chair is turned away from the camera, while asking the subject to still look at the camera, it overcomes any concerns raised. Love how the flowers harmonise with the dress color.

Igor,
You have improved so far from your first portrait shots!
I believe the fuss is having the feeling you can look up the skirt to see her undies. ( I see London, I see France. I see someone's underpants!)
I would like to see her head tilted just slightly and then dropped just a little to take away the feeling of looking up her nostrils. I LIKE the color. I do agree with the detail on her right, though. I see this quite often from outdoor lighting but inside you should be able to control it.

.....eeerrrr.... maybe i'm using a kind of slang or popular word (english from GB ..the original one !) ?!?!
Having been married or some years with a ****ney girl, i'm affraid i haven't learned 100% "correct" english !
...maybe Robin or Brian will agree or correct me on the use of this word ?
Of course, her UNDERWEARS are not visible, it's only a "way of speaking" ! ..or see Linda's post :tongue2: !
Anyway, i repeat: it's a sweet pic !
Cheers,
J-P.

Thanks Linda.
I'd love to get more different poses of Katya, but she wasn't in the posing mood (it was real hot), so after a few shots, she just ran away :)
No problem, JP! My wife is Ukrainian , so my knowledge of English is real poor :cry2:
Thanks :)

I love the way Katya engages with the camera. She looks so sweet. The colour of the flowers blends beautifully with her dress. You must be really proud of this one, Igor – and I mean the model AND the photograph!
