The camera refuses to work when I want it to, it works anytime after :woot:
I'm not joking , the camera sometimes work, some not.
It looked like a CF card problem to me, the green light in the back keeps flashing for a long time with no data on the LCD screens. After changing the card the camera works but stops a while after 'till I change the card again :mad2:
Any suggestions? Do I need a firmware update?

There was a recall on the D70. My D70 was repaired for free last year due to a bad board. The symptoms are exactly as you describe. It appears to be a card problem but in reality, it's a bad connection on one of the circuit boards. Sometimes it works and eventually, it will stop working all together.
Best of luck.

My D70 suffered the same fate. It was sent in to Nikon USA and they have repaired at no charge. It will be back next week. The only downside to the repairs was the horrible Nikon service phone lines and internet email site. I got through on the Service line the first time but unexplainedly, Nikon service let me get through all the automated button pushing and then cut me off. They had sent me notice that my Coolpix 5700 was in repair and I sent in a D70. I tried for three hours to call and got busy signals each time. I tried to send an email and at first I entered all the information and when I hit submit, it returned and told me that I was a member and had to log in so we did it all again and after two more tries, it submitted the question. I decided to call to be sure they were sending the right camera back and was on hold for 35 minutes until a nice service rep answered the phone and although apologetic, offered no hope for an improvement in time on hold. I told her that she should report the problem and she assured me she would but I did tell her that I now understand why Nikon might be losing the battle to Canon. On several Nikon lists, complaints are surfacing daily about the hold times with Nikon and the errors made in correspondence. I am not ready to give up on Nikon but it was an irritating experience. Finally, I was notified that the camera listed on my letter from Nikon was in error and they did indeed fix and ship a D70.

Canon has a far better service exchange, when my XL1s videocamera left this miserable world ( :D ) they gave me back a new (sealed) body the same minute of time, with absolutely no fuss or a bit of discussion.
This is what I really aprecciate to a big company.
No complaints with Nikon though....
Good luck

Just an update. D70 back from Nikon. Cleaned, blinking light fixed and including a 4 day holiday, in 10 days. Not bad and I am happy.
