Ok everyone. The Forum will be going through some outtages at the end of the month. It's very important that you all know that the forum is not going down permanently, so don't email me asking where'd it go!
As some of you know, Connie and I are moving. Our house sold last week and everything on both sides is looking right.
With this, I'll need to start disassembling my server room at my current house and I'll need to take the forum down for a few hours at most to get this part done. Then it will sit on a floor all by itself for a few more days at which time it will get backed up and loaded into my car and trekked to the new house. I expect this to take 2-3 full days to get it up temporarily in the new location. Then, when the movers finally show up, sometime afterwards, I'll need to take it down again to re-rack it. It's not all that time consuming really. Most of it is drive time. Racking the forum stuff up should only take me 15 minutes after I get my other stuff up and running.
I will also try and re-direct the forum URLs to a temporary website with a similar message while it's down for those 2-3 days.
Good news is, we'll have more bandwidth (10 times!) in the new location for 1/3 the price I'm paying now. With the savings, I thought I'd go buy a third car. :) Just kidding.
More when I find out, but it will probably be somewhere between August 25 and the 4th of September (not all of those days, just when the 2-3 day period will start).
Anyway, of course if you have any questions about this, feel free to post them here.

Yeah. Some people call me crazy. Some people call me cool. A few people even call me, well, we'll leave that one out.
My server room is only 30 square feet, but it's packed.
8 servers, a stand alone music server, LCD/Keyboard/Mouse drawer, 3 Cable Modems, 2 DSL Lines, Cisco 1720 router, Sonicwall firewall, Symantec firewall, Cisco 3524 24 port switch, Cisco 3548 24 port switch, Netgear 24 port GigE switch, 3Com 24 port switch, 96 port patch panel to handle network, phones and whole house audio patches, HP 4100 printer...
Here's a shot of it when int was just finished before the floor was cleaned and the lighting was done.

Actually, I'm pretty much the only one that uses that broom believe it or not. Sometimes the cleaning women use it though.

No problem Igor, it's a pleasure!
Now, while we're away this weekend, we're doing the normal tenting of the house where they throw a giant tent over the whole house and fumegate for bugs (more so for termites). While the power is supposed to remain on, who knows what will happen while we're away, so if it goes down this weekend, everyone is just stuck cause we can't get in the house.

We all start at some momment considering that we should do a better cable management, but in the end after few hours (or days) of frustation cables just dont make sense anymore, but my friend those cables are aranged great!
This kind of room would give my wife a panic atac... She will be like... Are you going to put a bed in there? Would recuire food anymore... Whit a devilish look in her eyes eagerly waiting for a "bad" answer... Nice place brain and hope the moving wont mess up any of your hard drives...

Thanks for the heads-up Bryan. I'm a relatively infrequent frequenter of the Forums, but you do a good job with this one. Good luck with the move.

Hope the move goes (went?) smoothly. I try to do that a sleldom as possible. I'm still looking for the fuses that the movers must have stolen when we last moved some 20 years ago. My wife contends that I lost them during the move, but I never lose anything; someone always steals it.

I am soooo ashamed. No way will I ever show you my server rack. (home made) Guess I have to move to Colorado and invite you over for a beer and lock you in my server (laundry room) room till you make it look like yours!
