I recently purchased an S2.
I'm using an SB 28 the camera is set to single servo auto focus, spot metering and center area focus. CSM #15 regarding AF assist light is turned to ON.
At first the AF assist light would go on when using the SB 28 followed by the SB28's own red beam of light. I was also able to make flash exp. comp. directly in the top LCD setting of the S2.
Now I can't make exposure settings via the camera but I can on the flash (opposite of what it was doing). However, the AF assist light no longer comes on with the flash EVER. As soon as I turn the flash off the AF assist light comes on (of course it must be a dark room etc.)
I've tried all exposure modes but prefer TTL matrix. I'm shooting in manual mode. Also the AF assist light on the SB 28 is not coming on either. so I tried an SB 27 and the same situation, no AF assist light on the flash or camera. Just the red infrared light.
Put on a brand new SB 80DX and had exactly the same results. No camera or flash AF assist light.
Does anyone know why the AF assist light is no longer working with my SB 28 flash? We need that extra boost of light in dark reception halls.
Thanks,
Jay
