I work in PS6 sometimes and Elements. For example, I find it much easier to do batch jobs in PS6, but any copying and pasting to a different resolution is easier in Element. (I can't figure out how to resize a paste in PS6) I haven't really ran into anything I couldn't do in one of those but maybe if I had PS7 I wouldn't have to jump around. I don't know because I don't have it.

Looking for comments on what PS7 has that might make it easier to work with, or some things it has that PS6 and Elements don't have that could be useful.

The "healing brush" alone makes the jump to PS7 worth all the while (and money) If you ever want to touch up skin blemishes, then this brush does it effortlessly.

Good luck

Must agree, the healing alone is worth the transition, and I came from Elements. Especially if you see the upgrade price its worth it. Every cent.

Keep in mind that Photoshop 8 will likely hit the market this fall. Don't upgrade twice, especially since the new version will include the $100 Adobe Camera Raw plugin. I'd say sit tight for a couple of months.

Here is a sample of some skin blemishes that a surgeon is going to remove soon. However, for the prints, we wanted the blemishes removed NOW.

Time to fix: 15 seconds with the Healing Brush.

To do this with the Stamp tool could take a few minutes and would not look as good.

(Wear your sunscreen!)

I do quite a bit of highlighting individual parts of pictures. Now I'm going to have to remember the tool I'm talking about. You know, the highlighting tools that sort of follows an edge. Any improvements on this type of thing?

Thank you

Is there a chance that this healing brush will make me look young again? :D ;)

I was playing with it last night on a close up of a 26 yr old female. I removed the beginnings of crow's feet and tighened up under her eyes. She now looks 21 again. We'll see how she likes it in terms of dollars soon.

Photoshop is the better soft for photographers. Always that you can, I advice to update because new versions offers to you a lot new tools and controls. Is a program to take to an uninhabited island.

P.D. I don't work for Adobe.

And now, the moment you've all been waiting for....Adobe Photoshop CS. Adobe announced it today. It will ship in late November, but you can order it now...full 16 bit support, better browser...the list goes on and on...

I wonder if this is the equlivalent to PS 8. I haven't had 7 for very long and am still learning most of the features.

After my reply about grain you should know that I joke around a bit. I wouldn't expect anyone to sell it when you get such a discount on the upgrade.

I think I can find PS7 for a good enough price then add the upgrade price and still spend less than what they are asking for the new one.

This thread seems a little mute now that everyone is looking at PS CS.
Another thing I was wondering if PS 7 or CS will do is colorization. This can be real handy in touch up work, but in PS6 you have to highlight what you want to colorize, then go into the menu somewhere and work with a slider. Below is the biggest colorizing job I've done. Was about 8 years ago. I had played Bridge Over Troubled Waters for a POWMIA ceremony at the Navy Base here. A couple of weeks later they gave me this B&W photo of the event. I wanted it in color, so I scanned it into Picture Publisher 4. It was much easier in that program. Just pick a brush, pick colorize, and start painting. Depending or the darkness of the area you were painting, it applied that much of the color. Work fairly good. I over did the camouflage pants and just never got around to fixing that.

Nice coloring job. I guess it's true that everything you use in life you first learn in kinder garden. Coloring / Cutting & pasting. :D

Nice job JR!

take care . . .

For colorizing, I started in 6 and used the brush tool and set it on color, chose my color and brushed it on. Works great! I also picked up a chart somewhere on the net for hair and skin tones as a jpg to click on to get the colors i want. It works great.

I use Photoshop daily while retouching images in a pro portrait lab....the healing brush is invaluable. When people send in images with blown out highlights and pay us to fix them, I make a new blank layer, color in the area on the second layer, flatten it and use the stamp tool to blend it in. Works great!

Linda (who's looking forward to using cs)

Hi Linda

Would you considered emailing me the color chart jpg?

I put up a post in the 'almost anything goes' about maybe doing a coloization, but didn't seem to get much interest. I think I'll take a B&W of something today and post it. At first I was thinking of trying to make it easy, maybe not.
