Am i the only one having difficulty to connect to the site ?
Since Bryan put it up again, it usually takes aaaaages to load ! Most of the time, it starts loading, then stops for a very long time, sometimes up to 1 minute (and even more at times), like so:
http://i.pbase.com/o4/36/136/1/66983503.bmjtasCh.screen.jpg
...then it finishes loading !
I've tested my connection with other sites (in the USA and other places) and their all very fast !
Any idea ?
Cheers
J-P.
PS. i posted here because i didnt' know where else i could post that kind of question...:dunce:

Well.... since there's been more than 30 "views" and no comment, i guess i'm really the only one having problem connecting...
...i better check with my provider, then...

Would be interesting to hear how you all feel this connection is compared to the way it was. This connection is supposed to be 5mb up and down, but I'm finding that the speed isn't even close to that.
There's supposed to be a tower and service upgrade in a few weeks to 10mb up and down. If things don't pick up considerably after that, I'll be working with the provider to get it resolved.

Hi Bryan ! I would say without hesitation that -in my case- the connection is usually a lot slower than before !
Regarding your up/down speed of 5Mb, i don't think this slow anything for me, as my connection -thru my provider- is only 800 Kb/s. down :mad2: !

Pages load 2-3 times faster here :righton: after the "back in business".
My connection speed/provider didn't change.

Probably because I'm 1200 miles closer to you.
Thanks for the report!

Bryan,
you're 1200 miles closer to me too, but the page loads with half the speed than before.

I had the same problem at about the same time, the forum seemed to be down.
I have also noticed the connection speed has been a little slower since the site came back up.

Well then. That won't be happening again. Lost power this morning while I was in the shower. Hadn't had a chance to hook up the battery backups yet so everything was reset and the box the server is on can't be set up to power itself back on after an outtage. :baldy:
Anyway, took the chance while it was down to put it in position to go into the rack (it's been running on the floor since we got here) and hook up the battery backup.
I have a larger backup unit that I'll probably switch to, but that will be done with notice.

Seems that everyone is affected with this new ISP, some better, some worse. Let's wait until they upgrade the tower locally here to see if that helps out the people who are getting slow loads...
Thanks for the input so far!

It will stop at 64.140.7.78 as this is the last hop before the router that is blocking all it's port apart from port 80 e.g. the one at Swampy's premises.
