I recently had some equipment faliures and the insurance company covered the cost. It is very important that your business insurance cover equipment problems. It makes the difference between closing your business and just having a bad day.

I agree. Insurance is a good way of protecting your livelyhood and equipment in case of disaster.
I have business insurance on my computers and cameras in the office, and a rider (Inland Marine insurance) for my laptop, cameras, and rented equipment when used outside of the office.
I also have uniterruptable power supplies (UPS) on my computers, keep archives on CD-R with duplicates stored off-site, and don't play with matches.

Next year when it is time to renew my insurance I am going to get interruption insurance. They give you money for loss of profit when you have an equipment faliure.

I'm with you Tom. Although I play with matches too. I have a fire safe with all my stuff in it just in case though.

What kind of fire safe? Do you keep your cds and negs in a safe?

It's a big ol safe. 48" wide, 6 or so feet tall, 28" deep.
I store firearms, camera equipment, CD's, Negs, Pics, important docs, blackmail material, original Nixon tapes, etc. :D
here's a picture of it.

Nah - the 23 screws in my left arm have been getting loose on me for a while now and they need an occasional twisting. Guess I shouldn't complain too much. It's been 15 years and they wanted to cut it off to begin with. :P

....has a good business insurance package which also includes liability coverage. Which some companies insist on in order to work on their property.
