Just along the road from Prince Charles's place at Highgrove near the Gloucestershire town of Tetbury is Westonbirt Arboretum.

These photos were taken in autumn but there is something to point your camera at all year round.
Be aware (particularly if taking a group or family) that the admission fees are surprisingly high :(

Too much to expect the auto white balance of any camera to cope with that mixed light and great swathes of colour so I just set them all to 5300k in the raw conversion - the difficult bit was deciding how much to turn down the exuberant colour saturation of the Olympus to get the right balance between impressive and believable :)

Yes I know what you mean re the saturation. I set my w/b to 5200k for sunny days and it looks pretty spot on with my Nikon.
