I was shooting some JPEG images today using another digital camera (OLY) on a Lexar Media 256MB compact flash card. After changing batteries I got an ERR on the display and the LCD said "UNFORMATED CARD"
I remembered Lexar had some image recovery software on their website, and I did find the product ($39) but it is a physical shipment, not a download. So I did a web search on image recovery software and came up with a product called
Photo Recovery by LC-Tech:
http://lc-tech.com/photorecovery.htm
They had a free demo version that you can download and try just shows thumbnails, so I tried it and it pulled up not only the oly images, but also quite a few S2pro images that I had "deleted" from the card!
So I bought the software for $39 and it was able to salvage all the photos off the "unformated" card, including the S2pro files, about 142 pictures. All except one!
So if you run into card trouble in the field, set the card aside and when you get home, download the evaluation and see if it works for you too. If so, you can pick up the pay version and save the files.
Regards,
Matt
