View Full Version : A reason to freak out

While at a wedding, I was shooting the post ceremony shots and my Nikon D200 displayed the message "No File Found" after taking a picture. I tried to recall the image after taking the shot and did not see it at all. Immediately I placed another card and without missing a beat, continued. As soon as I had a chance I downloaded the card into my Flashtrax and all of te previous images were there. I would suspect it was a card problem of sorts. The entire wedding turned out well. Just that glitch made me concern that I could have lost all the previously taken images. In fact, I was pretty darn concern but could not let the Bride see that.
Any known glitches with the D200 so far. It may have just be the card.

I know with the Canon's, when you get to image 9999, it will ask you if you want to continue with the next folder (xxxx100 going to xxxx101) resetting the image numbers back to 0001. When I click yes, I can continue shooting, but lose access to those previous images in camera and can't view them without some trickery in the view menu switching folders and stuff.
Not a big deal really, but maybe you rolled over 9999? Just a thought.

Just finished some location shots and when trying to show them in camera I had the same message. Internally I was afraid they (lots!) were all gone. Later I saw it was only that one shot. Not a rollover, as Swampy suggests. Just a glitch in that disk.

Hi Gil
I had the same thing happen to me with my D200, I just put it down to the card that was in at the time, I noticed it happened straight away, I put a new card in and it was fine, it's funny as i've never had this problem with my old S2

Was it a card you had used in another camera? First thing I do when using a card in a different camera is to do an in-camera format.

The cards I use are constantly formatted and they stay assigned permanently to each camera. I have three 2-gig and two 1-gig cards for my D200, two 2-gig and three 1-gig cards for my S2 and two 1-gig cards for my D100.
I have disposed of all the cards I used on my D1X and D70 right after selling the cameras.
At work I do the same thing with the D2X and the D70s. I never swap cards between cameras.
I formatted the card and I have used it in personal events and for play time. It seems to be performing well...for now. More to come after my next wedding this week end.
I am glad I always carry plenty of back up and in case of emergency i can dump the images into my Flashtrax! It's a great device!
Thanks to all for sharing!

Gil and others - can you tell what brand of card failed. It would be interesting to see if there is any pattern.

I use the Promaster which I believe are manufactured by Toshiba. That's the one that failed me.
