Well I scared myself half to death today, trying my first cleaning of the S2 sensor.

There is the first image with the specks of dust
http://www.jandrphoto.com/second.jpg
There is the second image after using a brand new sensor brush on it, I thought it was a scratch on the sensor I FREAKED out. :baldy:

And there is the third image after 5 cleanings to get what ever it was off of the sensor.

However if you look at the right side you can see what looks like a ghost in all of the images. This has to be part of the sensor as it was in there before any cleaning and after everything I did. I wonder if it is a defective sensor? Has anyone else seen this in there sensors?

Also this is a great help

This one is made by rayovac and has red led's, a white led (or whatever color they call white) , and another bulb built in to let you choose what way you want it, I found the white led did the best for seeing stuff on the sensor.

Never have seen a stubborn spot like that one. I know what you mean about freaking out...did that one a few years ago and thought I had ruined the sensor. :woot:

I'll bet your helper had fun with the light. :)

What ever the brush picked up (I think it was some glue that was on the packaging, you had to slide it out of a sealed sleeve that it came in) put a thin clear line across the sensor it looked just like a scratch, you could see it with the headlamp shining on it. Just gets me that a new $25 brush did that, I will be calling micro-tools Monday.

Well I contacted Fuji today and they told me to send the camera in, he also said that he could not diagnose the camera over the phone (understandable) but that it sounds like the sensor is defective. If the sensor is defective that it would be covered under warranty. Heck cant beat that deal with a stick.

This is why I never touch my sensor. Everyone says never used canned air, but done responsibly, like I do, and at my own risk of course, has worked perfect for me for 3 years now.

I've only had one of my sensors cleaned professionally and that was only because I sent the camera back with some focusing issues that they fixed for free and did a cleaning on it at the same time.
