Shucks, I thought we'd have someone's mug up here and see who could make the most interesting alien. LOL
Seriously, I think this is excellent. I had all kinds of ideas for different kinds of pictures going through my mind just in the first few minutes after reading the other thread. Been an hour now and haven't come up with anything I'd consider original enough to post here. This will be a very good challenge.
Let's see who's gutsy enough to put up the first one.

Yep - that's spot on. Use the image in anyway you like.
Enjoy !

This will be my last post to the forum, as I don't have an S2.
I've been sitting on the fence between a 10D and a S2 and tomorrow I will fall into the other camp.
I do use a Sony with Nikor lens, does that count?

I took violin lessons as a kid. I stunk. I hated it. I had to continue until the violin was paid for. Pure torture for me and anyone within earshot.

These are ALL SO GREAT. What a tallented group of people. I'm very happy that I don't have to pick a favorit or judge these or anything like that.
This post is a deliteful and important addition to the forum. It really shows off the kind of knowledge that is passed around here.

It's certainly looking good Captain !!
I think Tom V has the most explaining to do !! :) :)
( with particular reference to marquee selection ? )...
If anyone is ready with another image, then please go ahead. Best start as another thread with title along the same lines as this one.
I already have thoughts about suggestively shot images of red peppers !!! :D

I want to know how he cleaned the pic up and lightened up the side of the Viola so cleanly as well as the tip of the bow.

Clearly, I should put together a tutorial for masking out (or in) objects in Photoshop. I did masking in my Matrix-like "Reloaded" shots, the motorcycle shots, my 4-eyes portrait, and other shots I have posted here. In the FireTruck Challenge, I took a shot of Wayne's and completely removed the firetruck, in order to lean the vehicle to look as if it were going around the corner in a different direction. I mask at least 50% of the shots I do for clients.
So whether you are masking violas, clowns or fire trucks, stay tuned. I will post a tutorial in a new thread this weekend.
I will also explain how I retouched this viola, including removing the stand that the instrument was leaning against (note that I put in a new tuning knob where it had been obscured by the stand), and how I fixed the tip of the bow.

If i was voting on these pics i'd have a really hard job ,the're all brilliant . Personally i've just give it to Shawn. it's so evocative , but Tom's is sheer class .
I'm off to bed now ,so i posted in case i forgot tomorrow, i've been too busy to spend much time on these challenges this week but i'll try to over the weekend.

That tutorial has been placed in the correct forum here. Like a week ago! If you have trouble finding it, lemme know, I'll post the thread, but right now, I'm too lazy. :P

See the Selecting and Masking tutorial here:

I had to look for a while to find the tutorial myself. Hopefully it will get moved to the Photoshop/Elments forum.
