I purchased my S2 in the summer of 2005 from Tri-State camera. Normally I pass on those extended warranties, figuring the odds are calculated to be well in the insurance company's favor. But the S2 was by far my largest single investment in photography gear, so I opted for the 3-year Mack warranty that was offered. I think it was about $130. When the CCD went out early last year, Fuji replaced it quickly with no question. But several months later the camera went into a coma - all it could do was display "ERR" on the LCD when switched on. Back to Fuji, who said the entire control unit would need to be replaced, and by-the-way, that would be $500. No thanks, Fuji. I went out and bought a Nikon D80 and added the dead S2 to my pile of old Nikon film cameras. But then, aha, I recalled the Mack warranty. I pulled all the papers together, got my repair authorization, shipped it off, and now, three months later, it is back. Although it took a while, Mack provided a link giving updates on it's status, so I could tell things were at least moving along. It seems to be working well and I'm looking forward to seeing those nice skin tones again, that the Nikon, fine as it is, doesn't seem to quite match.

Nice one! I am surprised they didn't write it off and give you the $500

Great and nice to hear Tony!! :righton: Always wondered about those Mack warranties, know you can buy them from B&H so they must be alright. :)

Thanks for the info. :righton:
