Did you read the fine print under that? It's in .001 font in the same color as the background.

It says:

"In Japan, if you know the right people and have already been standing in line for 6 months. Everyone else will have to fight for the low supply at the end of February 2008.".

:D

It will be interesting to see how the pixel pitch performs in the M3 and if noise levels are higher than in the M2 because of this smaller pitch.

It's about time they add the B&W filters and stuff. Although, I'd probably still prefer to do B&W conversions in PS, it will be interesting to see how well they do it in camera.

The 3" LCD. Well, that was a wow for me until I read further. It's the same 230,000 pixels as their 2" LCD on the M2. This means the image on the viewfinder will be "grainy" looking. Same resolution as the M2, but stretched in all directions if you will.

I'm liking the new magnification on the M3. .76 versus .70, which means the already large viewfinder on the M2 will be even bigger on the M3 making things much easier to see.

It's also nice to see they added UDMA support on the CF Card slot. That card slot will haul ass in writing, but I guess it has to with the file sizes it will have to write.

Also interesting that they dumped firewire. I really dislike USB2. It's too slow...

And finally, ISO display in the view finder. Every one knows I hated the ergonomics of the buttons on the 1D series. They've changed that a bit and made the ISO setting a single button instead of a two button press and now you won't have to look at the top or rear LCD to see your changes. That's a nice change.

They've also did the same thing for the Drive (single shooting/continuous shooting). Had to press two buttons to change from singe to continuous before, now it's a single press, same button as the AF mode, so I'm assuming you'll use the top wheel and the back wheel to change one or the other with a single press. That's also very nice. I wonder if you'll be able to see the drive change in the viewfinder as well.....

While I believe in shooting full resolution all the time, the addition of the sRAW will be really nice for a lot of people who only need 5mp images to save space.

This is probably in the 1D3, but having 26 assist points will be a welcome addition over the previous 11 for tracking moving subjects.

I wish they added ISO25 or something like that, but I guess I'll just have to stick with 50 for those situations. Adding that they didn't include ISO6400 like they did on the 1D3 tells me they were/are having problems with noise and the smaller pitch.

I like the silent shooting mode idea too. Can't wait to try it.

I'm glad they have the option to turn off the auto rotation as I'd rather use my LCD to it's fullest extent. Nice to see you can change it to completely off, record, but not display or have it full on where it will display and record it.

New storage options for recording are welcome as well!

Looks like they've added a flash metering bar in the viewfinder as well.

More accurate battery status replaces the old 1 2 knockout and also a mirror lockup indicator on the top lcd for people like me who forget it's on. haha.

Anyway, just my notes and comments...

Considering I was posting at 4am and hadn't gone to sleep yet, nope missed that I was reading so many different posts and forums it all sort of blurs together:lol: I do remember reading something about an expected delay as it has the same focus firmware and they aren't happy yet wth the latest upgrade on the 1dmIII

I'm #5 on the list for the camera with Calumet I've been there since gosh last Dec?? When they felt a Feb 07 release:baldy:

It's interesting anyway, timing might have had something to do with all the hype about Nikon's D3 expected this week.. I'm sure it will be a awhile before we actually see either one. I did see sample images somewhere too I forget that at the moment it wasn't the ones on Canon's site though. Regardless it gives lots of people time to review and decide it's nice to see something besides rumors.
