My D2X battery pack is running out of power in about 50% of the time it previously did. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Do they have a limited "shelf life"?

Sorry to hear that Jacqui, and that I can't help:(
I've not used mine in a long duration say during an event or something...I used to be able to go for thousands of shots anyway.
Now everything is in studio and it does last all day easily not nearly the same amount of shots, plus I have a second battery and Melissa always remembers to switch and put what I used on the charger for me each day. Never shows going down just a better safe then sorry thing.

I'm not sure if the D2x charger has it, but my Canon chargers all have a "recondition" button and if the D2x charger has that, have you tried that?

Yes, the d2x charger has the same button.
I just resurrected a 3rd party battery with that button :) Guess I shouldn't go a year without using them and expect them to work.

Good thinking, Melody, I have just been out and bought a second battery for that purpose ... should have thought of it before. Thank you.

Thank you, Swampy, I have a calibration button, which I assume is the same. I've done that, now.

Thanks for coming back on this, Rich.

Did it work for you Jacqui?
I've been using a Delkin battery with my d2x and it works very well... in case you need a recommendation for a second batt!
