Hi, Has anyone ever used Dust-Aid to clean thier sensor? I just purchased my first S2, got a great deal. However, I notices the same marks on my test shots regardless of the len I used. I figure it's the CCD. I'm pretty handy when it comes to fixiing things (I got an old Yashica Electro 35 GS to work again) so I'm not too afraid to give it a try, as long as I know it works.
Thanks, John

I've only had one of my cameras CCD's cleaned and it was done only because it was at the factory. I've never had to use anything but a little canned air to get rid of any spots I have had over the years. Works for some, doesn't for others, don't know why since I've done it with 7-8 S2's, a few S3's, Kodaks, Canons, a whole lot of different cameras. Oh well, just an idea for you to try since you don't touch the CCD during the process and as long as you clear the canned air tube to make sure there's no liquid and you make sure you hold the can upright to make sure you don't spray the inside down with the liquid air, you're fine.

I had terrible trouble with my S2 Pro. I had "stuff" on the sensor that appeared to be some sort of oil. The longer I had the camera the better it got so I reckon it was coming off one of the internal mechanisms.

Anyway I used sensor swabs and eclipse fluid for cleaning which worked fine for me. With the Canon cameras I have never needed to use anything other than a rocket blower.

...sensor swabs and eclipse fluid...fixed my screw up and shot beautifully after that. One thing to note, Eclipse can't be flown so you need to pick it up at the store...just a little problem up here, luckily a photographer friend had some. :)

eclipse and sensor swabs is the way to go, available at most big photo retailers in Romania!

How rugged is the S2? Oh well, my shutter came down, caught the swab in the mechanism and the shutter blades jump out, pushed them back in with a little care (and a lot of concern) and guess what IT WORKED. The F(N)80 is a well build body!
