View Full Version : Image Recording Modes

The S2Pro offers a variety of image capture modes and additional control over image contrast, color balance, in-camera sharpening data format.
The primary recording modes are: CCD-RAW TIFF-RGB TIFF-YC JPEGThe CCD-RAW mode offers the most flexibility, but it can be confusing. Raw data is captured at its full dynamic range, and no in-camera sharpening is applied. Translating the RAW format requires the use of Fuji's Hyper Utility software or a compatible software program like Qimage (http://www.ddisoftware.com/), Photoshop CS, Capture One, Bibble, Raw Shooter or many others.
Images captured in RAW may appear softer with less contrast than images captured in other modes, but all the data is there to be manipulated as you see fit!

Seems to be that here seems nobody helpfull.
OK, I wil try to figure out how to get into the "secret" JPEG mode :
1st: Be shure that the viewfinder-side, that's the side without the lens, is looking to you.
2nd: Try to locate the tiny 4 knobs above the LCD display. The display is that funny thing which looks like a micro-LCD-TV.
3rd: Find the third button from the left ( of the group of those four ) and press him gently. The other display should show either an N,F, oder H. H is bad, because it produces "hot" photos. Try the N (nerd) or F (fake )-mode. Both modes are creating JPEGs.
The attached link shows another S2 which is not capable to create JPEG-photos. Hope, you don't have this type :dunce:

Thanks Jean-Pierre !
I think I have given enough time to answer, but it seems, that everybody leans back and looks at this thread.
We all know the S2 very well and the JPEG-mode is explained everywhere in the users-manual. As you know and understand me, my humor is a little bit sarcastic. When you read between the lines there is the real hint how to shoot in JPEG. On the other hand I am worried not to have written a turtorial how to get neat pink/purple pictures with a dead CCD.
Well, that's me !

Well, that should stop OnLocation2 wanting to ask another question! Bearing in mind that it was a first post, we might, perhaps, have been a little more gentle. Or, have I missed something?
Cheers

daxb,
I am pretty shure the OnLocation2 was a simple hoax. No one with a DSLR in his hands would ask how to make JPEG-shots. I could understand questions about favorite settings, but not about JPEG itself.
 and happy 1st Advent

I always tell my young troops, the only stupid question is the one not asked. If you look back at some of my first posts here, you will find my ignorance level was very high. It was straight answers from the fine folks here that made me smarter and kept me coming back!

I hope you are right Wilm. This doesn't seem like something that would be worth setting up a hoax for.
Best regards

Dick ( Thanks for providing your real name ),
I am uncertain too !
We are communicating here for a couple of years and we've seen many 1st-posters with good and stupid questions. It might be a question from a child who has gained daddies camera for some shots and was not able the read the owners manual. It is simplier these days to join a forum than to understand the unit you've got in your hands.
If I was wrong, I have to say sorry for that, but I still beleave, that the question can be handled as many other first posting over here. Do you have software, is there a copy, I don't find the JPEG mode, yadda yadda yadda.
As you could read between my lines, I have answered the question. Not friendly, you're right, but I have done.
From my point of view, OnLocation2 hasn't answered, so his problem has been solved...
Wilm
PS.: Don't mind. My English is simply school-based and to write between the lines is more complicated than you might thought, when reading this in your mother-tongue

Thanks for an honest answer Wilm. However, I’m not sure that the lack of a response from OnLocation2 proves that his problems are solved, merely that you might be right. Maybe we shall never know.
Incidentally, school based your English may be but I must say, that I would be more than happy to be able to express myself in a foreign language as you do. No problems there.
Best regards
Dick
