If one combines 4 batteries of 1.2 V and combines them in a holder with a plug that fits the Fuji, it is only .2V shot of the 5V necessary. Is this enough?

Has anyone of you tried this. A holder is very cheap and easy to make, as are the C or D size batteries and their chargers.

From what I understand, the CR123's "top up" the charge from the AA's. That is why when you just use the AA's, they drain much faster. I am not aware (other than using the modified MB-16 to replace the CR123's) of any other device you could use to power the S2 (other than the AC adapter).

Take care.

I've seen a few people selling these:

It looks interesting- but I am basically satisfied with the battery performance of the S2- and I'd hate to damage anything... I think this is definitely an "at your own risk" product.

It sounds like you are trying to make a battery eliminator like the mobile phone type deals that replace the battery pack.

It will do the job, but you have to make sure that you supply the right current (AMPS), be absolutely sure you get the polarities right (ie: + and - the right way round).
