Switching while writing

Hello,
I haven't got my S2 yet so I can't test. While having both a cf and a smartmedia card in the camera, is it possible to switch between cards? For example, I know I have 2 shots left in the CF card and fire them off. While the camera is writing, I shift the settings to record on smartmedia. Is there any inherent danger to this? Thanks to all in advance

For instance, the camera won't switch off until it's finished writing.

You can specify which card to use in the custom functions.
If there is only one card fitted, the camera will use that automagically
