Is this a good deal, or what? www.batteryspace.com is the link. It comes to a hair over $1.30/ea.

Actually you can get the 2300's from Gary Fong for like $49.00 for charger and 4 batteries

I've found the 2300's for 15.95/set of 4. I just don't see the need for them at this point when I can get about 16 of the 2000's for the same price (when you include shipping) and end up getting a gazillion more shots out of them than I could the 4 2300's.

That is a good deal for the 2000 mah batteries. I bought some 1800s from a vendor on ebay several months ago (when they were one step below the latest and greatest :) ) for about $1.00 per battery. 2300s are now the darlings of the battery set but can a 2500, or even a 3000 be around the corner? I am quite happy with the 1800s. They charge with my maha charger in about 1 and 1/2 hours, hold the charges well, seem to last quite a long time and when I can get 4 1800s for the price of 4 2300s, well the economics speak for themselves.
I bought the optional 220 volt power cord for my charger and the charger and cord and about 30 AA NiMh batteries are charged, in cases, packed in my backpack ready for the plane ride to Romania on Saturday.
As a personal aside and a question somewhat facetiously asked,
Wonder if 1800 batteries become unusable when the newest batteries are introduced, or will they work as well as when they were the latest and greatest?

Mel, And we are all patiently waiting for the soon to be announced S4. Wait a minute... I mean the S3.

Unfortunately my charger takes around 8-10 hours to chargeup a set of 4 NIMH batteries. Recommendations for a charger (quickie) and a purchase place?

Pauly,

I recently purchased an Eveready battery charger that charges 4 NiMH batteries in 30 minutes. They are available at Best Buy or Sam's Club for about $30.00 (I think).

Good luck!

http://maha.batterysupply.com/gp150aahc-u4.htm for maha chargers. I have the top rated 204 which has an advantage of being fast, cheap and small.

Hi Everyone,

I seem to remember that someone on another thread warned of using rechargeable batteries straight after charging and suggested to leave them for 30mins or so before installing them. So it's ok being able to quickly charge them but you need some back up batts that are already charged.

I'm curious about that... I know my AA's get quite hot after charging them in my quick charger... is that why we shouldn't put them straight into the camera?

Not sure if you can get "ANSMANN" products on your side of the pond.

Just bought the Ansmann Digispeed 4, comes with mains adapter, 12V vehicle adapter and 4 2200mah NiMH batteries.

Charges each cell individually, checks for faulty cells and has built in fan to keep cells cool whilst charging.

Best charger i have seen and used for a while.

Mel, thanks for the website. I've heard fantastic things about the Maha charger. Although I have 2300's and 2100's, I'm finding that I go through the batteries really quick. Hoping that it is my charger that is not fully charging the batteries. I seem to get about 50 pics and not too much more.

Killians, I've seen the Eveready but I've never heard any reviews so far as the chargers go. That is a quick charge. Does it come with an option to use in the car?

50 shots? That's strange. Do you use the CR123's? I use 2100mAh Nexcell AA's with a Radio Shack quick charger, and with my CR123's, I get between 400-500 shots per charged set (and I have the back LCD for Postview).

Something doesn't sound right....

Roel, most of the time I am shooting without the 123's. Maybe it is in shooting sports photography and following action all the time but I've noticed lately that I haven't been getting a whole lot of shots out of the NIMH batteries. I'll be picking up a new charger this weekend. Pre-requisite - quick charging, able to take any brand of NIMH, car adapter a plus.

I found that when I didn't use the CR123's, the battery meter didn't work at all. It would say the AA's were low, but I could still get 100-200 shots out of them.

Do your AA's run out after 50 shots or does the meter say they are low after 50 shots?

Roel, to be honest with you the batter meter ends up showing half full/half empty when I remove the batteries. I have been stuck in a situation before where they went totally dead (while writing) and had to take the batteries out of the camera for a couple of minutes and then replace before the S2/card would reset.

So in answer to your question, I do not let the batteries completely run out.

I believe that they can cause a power surge and stop the S2 working for a while. I will try and find the thread and put a link here.

and guess what...

They're 2250 mAh, and not the 2000 mAh that was listed online.

All for $24.99 + $6.10 shipping = $31.09

Not bad at all.

It did take 10 days to get them in my hands though.
