Ran across this and decided that it was suitable to post. This is a 30 year old lens, and I just love the DOF I can get at 1.2, or lack of it!

Focal point was the center of the speedometer. Sorry for the large format, but, it's nice to see it this size.

1/90, f1.2 no flash, handheld, and no, that's not camera shake, that's the f1.2 coming into play!

Again, same settings, focus point is the vents right behind the forks. This is a Harley Davidson V-Rod.

Now that's what I call glorious !

There's something about the venerable lens designs that give them a certain quality....

I've got a Nikkor 45mm, f/2.8 lens on order ( uses the Tessar 4 elements in 3 groups design ) and I'm hoping for similarly smooth results albeit with a smaller starting aperture !! :)

I owe Dartz (where is he BTW? :) ) a test shot with the 50/1.2 manual focus (AIS) lens. I don't have a Noct 58mm lens to compare it to, but consider this little heavy FAST thing handles low light very well.
The only thing to complain should be significant light falloff, but at this sharpness one can live with it, IMO.

So:
D70 + Nikkor 50mm/1.2 AIS
ISO800
f/1.2 (wide open)
1/90sec.
handheld
fine JPG
Shot my DVDs in a small room lit with one 100W bulb at the ceiling (pretty dark).

No post processing, except for Very minor USM to compensate resize.

Full frame and 1:1 crop.

Enjoy! :)

Guys, let's keep all discussions on particular lens in one thread please. This is happening more and more lately.

Thanks

Sorry Bryan, but it's not easy to keep track of all threads ever posted... Now I recall you had posted this thread, but only now.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of CCR and John Fogerty.
Unfortunately I have only one CCR DVD (California Concert) and one John's Premonition DVD. Would like to have more :)
Do you have any?
