I bought a Metz 54 MZ-4 today. Thought I would try it over a SB80. It seems with tests so far it works best with the Metz in TTL, and the camera in manual. What has been the findings of other Metz users? Also seemed like ISO 400 was best in the church tonight. I usally used 160 but over all the pictures looked better tonight at 400. Any info from Metz owners would be great as always. Thanks

How or where is the gray filter? I didnt see anything about that. Also when you are on P mode and matrix on the S2 does the matrix sign like on the SB80 show on the Metz? Mine does not. And last how do you set the fill flash? is there a custom setting? Thanks.

Thanks lumens!
I shot a few test shots in the church at a rehersal tonight. This was the first time I got to try the Metz out. I do notice the Metz is a lot more consistant than our SB80. If I was to do over again I would buy a Metz over the nikon any day. I will probley sell the SB before next year and get a second Metz. Thanks for the info, hope I can repay some day the help.

Have had the Metz for some time now. Usually use TTL or Auto settings, with the camera on 1/60 & (A). If I need to reduce the power mostly use a Stofen & or bounce the main flash. Have had very few problems so far.

Apeture is coming out around f8/11 for groups, mainly with a 15/30 sigma. It is possible to go to 'e' setting & keep the Metz zoom 1 stop back from the main camera setting, find this gives a more even & wider light spread.
All in all I am very pleased with the unit, but still learning & experimenting with different settings & combinationsof lenses.
