Hi gang,

The above microdrive (2.2 GB) is going for about $US 200.00 these days. Anyone used this on an S2? Man, have storage prices come down or what? If it works on an S2, would be really sweet...

My understanding is that the firmware for the S2 will not accomodate this memory card since it uses FAT32 vice FAT16.

But the S2 will format it FAT16, so only 1.9GB will be available

I bought 2 of the Magicstor 2.2gb microdrives and took them straight into action at a martial arts tournament. We were shooting 2 different S2s and they both started messing up. The cards would initialize at first and then when you turned the camera off or it went to sleep and you got ready to shoot the cards would'nt initialize. We had a variety of cards mostly IBM 1gb microdrives, and a couple of Sandisk compact flash cards and once it started the cameras were not working right with any of them. It was bad and I had'nt ever had a problem like this before so I was'nt sure what it was. Since the Magicstor cards were the only thing new I they were immediately suspect but it was'nt until all cards were reformatted in the cameras way late in the game that we solved the problem. It cost hundreds of photos and through the whole opperation into turmoil. I was able to determine later that it was the Magicstor cards that caused the problem.

Wayne,

So reformatting the 2.2 gb drives solved the problem and you've never had a problem since? Are you currently using them and find no problems?

No deffinately not, it solved the problem for a few seconds and then the same problem occured. They are totally unreliable.
