I just received a new Nikon AF-S 24-85G ED Zoom......has anyone had any experience with this lens.....Optical performance seems to be excellent...I also have read many good reports on it.
The only problem I'm having with this lens is the build quaility...
I know for a sub $400. lens I shouldn't be complaining......
Anyone have one?
Thanks:)

Guess no one has that lens yet. Was waiting, like you, to get the consensus.
I may ask Santa to bring me one more lens for Christmas. The one you have sounds like a great all-around range for lots of situations. 24-85 would be... 36-87. That's probably what I should have gotten instead of the 18-35.
Let me know how it's working out for you. It may just go on my wish list. Is it a Nikon brand?
Re build quality -- I figure since the S2 has gotta be more delicate than our old 35mm cameras, we all have to learn to be more gentle with our stuff anyway. I bet if you treat the lens nicely, it will treat you nicely too.

I think it's a fine lens. I gave it a thumbs up here in the S2Pro Faq. Very small and light and a nice useful zoom range plus AFS focus. I usually put it on the camera when I leave the house not knowing what I might be photographing.

Matt
