When we bought our S2 we put a SB80 on it. The SB80 was and still is a a problem to get constant flash with the S2. All the threads on the problems are proof of that. We bought a second S2 a couple weeks ago and I put a Metz 54MZ-4 on this S2. What a night and day differance. I had to ask a few questions to understand the Metz better but thanks to Lumens the Metz is working great. The SB80 is all over the place, the Metz is hard to make a bad shot. I would recomend anyone getting a S2 or getting a flash for a all ready owned S2 to buy a Metz over the SB80. Before the new year the SB will get sold or just be a backup and a second Metz will be on the other S2. This isnt a cure all for the TTL problems but its a big start. Check it out and you will be surprised.

Are you shooting AUTO MODE with the METZ?
METZ is the master of exposure sensors. Auto thyristors on potato smashers rock!

What does that mean? Something about potato chips?

What about the Metz 54mz-3? How different is this from the -4 model? Any performance feedback on this one for TTL and the S2?

I think the -4 is an update for better compatibility with DIGITAL SLRs.
I don't know the specifics but that's the info that's floating around.

So you're saying that these two are identical in performance (like the SB28 vs SB28DX) for use with the S2?
