Thought you might open this thread.
Anyway, what do we expect from Fuji when it comes out, if it does.
So please post your wishes, probable or not, what do we want, when a new S-pro camera comes to succeed the S2.
Anybody know someone at Fuji who we can mail our wishlist to.:D

Probably too late to say what we want for them to do anything about it, if the rumors are correct and that the new one will be out in 3-4 months. We had this thread going a while ago somewhere else here, but now that people have had 6 or 8 months more experience and we have more people, it's probably good to re-start this.
Pro Frame - IE, metal body.
Better weather protection.
Better battery solution? I like the AA's/123's right now, but, a meter that tells you you may be screwed when you're writing a frame is bad. So.
Better battery life gauge.
Higher FPS would be nice to have for that rare occasion.
Lower shutter lag. I know, it's pretty low now, but still.
Of course, TTL that works correctly.
Sharper images out of the camera - would rather blur than have to sharpen.
CCD curtain?
Mirror Lockup.
Higher ISO/even better high ISO handling.
Faster viewfinder return time.
Wireless shutter release.
There's a good start, I can think of more given a little bit of time, but I'm late for work in a town I don't even know. :D

That would mean that my 50mm lens is a true 50mm again.
I have a shoot that requires slides, so I picked up my N80 and looked through the viewfinder -- wow, I'd forgotten how much acreage there is to view!
Preview histogram.
AA batteries only.
Either green or amber illumination.
Built-in safe sync.

Some sort of solution to CCD dust. One of the other makes (olympus) vibrates the sensor then collects the dust on sticky replacable pads. Don't know if it works though. :)
A see through LCD cover
A bigger histogram display

i'd like a mirror lock up
some warning to tell you if any settings have changed from default eg: ISO, W.B.
And a viewfinder blind ,like the flip over on my 90x, that slide on is a pain , i can never find it in my bag ,and end up putting my finger over it .
3/4 CCD so that my 17mm is 17mm again.
A standard pricing policy so that if it's $2000 in the US it's not £2000 over here .
AA batteries only
A more rugged media flap , and easier to open with gloves on.
No one will produce an all singing all dancing camera that suits everyone . but lets hope some improvements do happen.

Better ask Santa,
cause Fuji ain't gonna deliver on that request.

That way I can shoot with a remote computer and downlaod without connecting a cord. The device that goes on the computer could also remotely trip studio flashes whenever the shutter is fired.

Thanks for covering that one Wayne. I missed that one and it's an important one for me...

Wish List::
Full Frame Sensor
Faster Autofocus
High-Eyepoint viewfinder, at least 95% coverage
Brighter Focusing Screen
Better PC Terminal
Real LCD Cover (How about a slide like a Hassy Back?)
Stronger Frame, or at least sturdier tripod socket
Control Dial Locks
Mirror Lockup
3 Frames per second, 9 frame buffer (that's enough)
AA batteries only, even if its 6 or 8.
Better Histogram
Sharper RAW
Better Software, always included
AC Adapter, always included
Not so dorky looking camera strap
Upgrade path
Better Battery Level IndicaTOR
And Finally
TTL that WORKS at various apertures!

I think all been said. But, repeating few.
1) CCD protection from dust would be really nice (actually this should be must have).
2) I like the full frame view finder to look through, but the crop is actually helping me since I prefer longer end of the lens. For example, 70-210mm/4 was my primary lens on my 35mm equipment. So, I guess either way, I win here.
3) Weather proof body (nice to have)
Thanks.

Thought I may as well have a go myself even if I've only had my S2 for 4months..
1. more rugged body. I use to have the Olympus E20 which was Alloy and it felt just right.
2. full frame CCD so that my 18/35m is 18/35m!
3. Next generation HR CCD. Iv'e read it can handle changes of light/exposure more effectively.
4. Perhaps Nikon's Cam1300 focus system which I understand is used in the now aged F5. This would no doubt lead to sharper images and faster focus.
5. Despite the complaints about the battery set up I dont mind using AA's. So if that's poss could you leave them be please Mr Fuji!.
As Sandman said, to make the idel Camera would be impossible cos we all do different things!!

I'd like:
1. Full Frame CCD - ideally using the Fuji CCD
2. Ability to release shutter using electronic control e.g. Nikon ML3.
3. One battery set preferably Lithium Ion e.g. like D100
In fact a camera with the specification of a Kodak Pro14N but in a cute Fuji body.

I don't plan to get the S3, but hope it will start to have most of what I by the time the S5 comes out.
As with others mostly said before,
Sensors -- Interchangable by user, like processor chip.
Hi dynamic range model.
Hi iso model -- maybe only for APS size/perspective.
Full frame model -- maybe only for lower iso's
Blended model -- FF for iso's 25-200, APS for iso's 25-400/800-6400
Prefer interchangable/upgradable options on:
Viewfinders -- I would prefer 105-110%, std with 95%.
Would also like option to use lcd as viewfinder with mirror lockup, for overhead shooting.
Autofocus -- better lowlight autofocus, with optional infrared(sp?) assist.
Interchangable LCD's I only need a basic one usually, but may have ocassion to have larger flip out.
Upgradable buffer capacity.
AA batteries with optional hi-capacity custom pack.
Histogram that let you see past the end for blown spikes.
Hi speed flash sync.
Remote shutter &/or flash control: optional either infrared or radio.
Various options for on-board flash: none, reg, top & side for portrait orientation.
Upgradable firmware.
Multiple frame/body options
Multiple programming modes. i.e. I would like to have P with a sub selection for either faster shutter, smaller f/stop, etc.
All of the above... make like pc or a car with a fair amount of options.

I would love to see:
* A CCD with more dynamic range
* 1/3 EV increments/decrements
* A more rugged body with environmental seals
* lower noise
* mirror lockup
* just use the AA's for power
Having said all of that, the S2 is a mighty fine camera. I am hoping that once the "S3" is announced and available, I can pickup another S2 inexpensively as a backup!

Oh oh oh oh!
Yes! Faster sync speed 1/250 at least! 1/500 would be excellent!
Option for vertical shutter release
(Just build in on the F100 or F5, and I would be happy.)

Hi guys, yep, I'm a newbie here making the most of a few spare minutes and to add a pretty important wish to the list
. . . . that it will be cheaper than I know it is going to be . .
. . and the D1H focusing system . . .
oh well! I can dream

Can't tell you any of the features, I don't know, but I DO know a beta of the S3 is out, but marketing won't take place til 04.
Now, if I can just get that data.....

I'm not sure if it's possible at all, but adding a backward compatibility (not only in manual mode) with older lenses (AIS, etc.) would be great.
And please change the location of the ISO button!!!!!!!

As a Newby I´ll keep it short, because everything is said.
But,
Firmware-upgrades would be a dream. No camera without a bug. See TTL. This really would fix the post-purchase-support from Fuji

Any Simpsons viewers out there ??
Anyone remember the episode where Homer finds his long lost ( half ? ) brother who owns a car company. Homer designs the ultimate car...
Be careful, be very careful what you ask for !! :D

Having an orientation sensor would really be beneficial.
So that a vertically held shot will appear that way when developing or opening the image.
It's a huge pain in the ass to do this manually!

I'd like to put my two cents in:
How about interchangeable focusing screens like the old Nikon F's, especially split image screen for critical focusing.
Is there a technical reason why they don't have interchangeable focusing screens?
I use D1, D1X and D100 at work and they don't offer different focusing screens.

I'd like a "My Defaults" button, to reset the camera in case I've been messing with settings. I hate when I leave it on ISO1600 or on a different white-balance setting.
I'd also like 2 or 3 custom setup memories.

I'd like the S3 to come with a debit / credit card reader so that I can get paid as fast as I deliver to my clients.:D

Having held an S2 for the first time yesterday, I would like something that feels and handles like a pro camera. After years of using FM2's, F3's and F4's, I like to feel some weight on the back of the lens.
Having said that, I took my Sigma 100-300 ex HSM zoom to my local store to try on the S2 body and I have to admit that it does balance and feel right. Having bought a D1 earlier in the week, when I get my S2 on Monday I will have the chance to run both side by side for an extended period.
One thing I do miss, however, is being able to rip film through at 6 fps for those pre-focussed action shots when AF is just not quick enough.

For that - go grab yourself an inexpensive S5000, which rips through at a pretty good clip of 5 frames per second. Too bad the buffer is only good for 5 frames. :(

What I want in the next Fuji DSLR.....
* skip the s3- go directly to the S-10 so I won't have to buy another every 2-3 years to stay on top.
*10 bizillion mega-gigapixels for detail, detail, detail.
* ability to print billboards straight from camera to printer.
* ........... printer for above feature.
* 720 deg. panoramas!!!
* produce holographic images, ya know for fine art nudes 'n stuff :}
* sharper algorythms so my portraits look more like razor blades and less like marshmallows
* artistic vision function that replaces what I just shot with what I thought I just shot.
* batteries that recharge in camera from the sun....or oxygen or water or diet coke or beer.
* built in "squeaky toy" feature that pops up over my head while shooting babies and dogs.........I can never find mine when I need it.
and last but not least a good all purpose fixed focus, wide angle macro-super zoom, 2mm- 10,000mm. It would be nice to be able to shoot the whole grand canyon in one frame then turn around and shoot dust mites on mars.
......I know your listening Fuji, whatchya say?:righton: :righton:  :righton:
