Hi there,

I went to use my S2 yesterday and changed my first set of batteries to some rechargables.

The brand was Uniross 2000 Ni-MH and were supplied with the camera. When I put the batteries in I had what I thought was a warning on the display which was just a battery symbol flashing.

I checked the batteries were in correctly and still the same error. I then tried the Uniross 2300 and they worked fine.

Obviously I was using the wrong batteries? I assumed they were correct as they were bought as part of a kit.

Any comments on this would be good, have you had the same problem? Have you used the Uniross 2000?

Cheers
Scott

i've got uniross 2300 , no problems also got Hama and panasonic 2000, again no problems ,same with uniross 1700 . the only ones i have'nt got are the uniross2000 but i can't see why they should'nt work . You say you got them with the camera , new or S/H? Fuji in my experiance only ship their own brand ni-mh's or non rechargable's. If the're second hand they might be knackered .

Hi,

I just got a warning on the display at the back, they were new and supplied as part of the S2 + battery kit. The staff in the shop didnt know what they were doing so Im not suprised if they are wrong.

I cant take back to the shop as they incorrectly charged me for the camera (by some few hundred pounds) so I stay clear of the place now!

Hi,

On the display above the LCD it is a battery symbol (like a 'battery low' display) which flashes.

Scott,

I have had camera functioning problems when I install my rechargeables straight from the charger before allowing them to cool down. It seems there is a thermal protector that is extremely sensitive. So sensitive, that one time my camera was inoperable for 3 days. If you installed straight from the charger with "hot" batteries, this could be the source of the problem. So, give it a couple of days and try again.

Hio Scott . . I had a similar problem with a kit I bought a couple of weeks ago - the Body and Battery Kit with a Uniross outfit which is extra to the Fuji batteries supplied. I charged the batteries and the camera took 5 pics then went flat. This happened twice before I realised the charger was only charging for 20 mins then giving the - supposed - charged signal. At this point I left the charger on for about 3 hours and havent had a problem since. I have though bought another charger and batteries in case the problem reccurs.

Bilbo,

My post was to ask for advice on wether I had been provided with the wrong batterys and to try and discover the error I was having.

Nowhere in my post am I complaining about anything, just seeking advice.

As a new user I welcome the comments, and If someone can HELP me and advise me what batteries to use (rechargable) then I would be greatfull.

Regards
Scott

Calm down Scott , i know it's frustrating but this sort of thing happens you get lots of conflicting replys , some helpful some just comments , best advice i can give after having all types of charger/battery combo's , is to go to currys/dixons, and buy the uniross fast charger with 4 AA's , whether the're the 2000 or the 2300. that way you'll know if the one that came with the S2 is duff . if it's not then you'll at least have a spare car charger as well .

Scott,

I had a similar experience earlier this year and could not explain it. It was not with Uniross batteries though, these were Ansaman.

I eventually think I tracked it down to user error !!!
What I think I had done was that I had mixed up a set of charged cells with one or more uncharged scells.
I usually carry 24 AAs (usually 4 in camera+ 4 in MB16) and a set (4) for my flash unit and a full backup set for all.

It only takes one discharged cell to get mixed into a charged set and it causes this problem.
Otherwise I can find no other reason for the problem as it has not reoccurred.
