I;m only using 'Elements 2'.
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to make a diagonal selection from corner to corner , i've tried using the line tool and can make a triangle but it only saves the 3 lines as layers and not the inside .
What i really need is a selection like the rectangle or circular tool. but i've got a feeling unless i've missed something it can't be done.
I know i could use the line tool to give me the edges and then mask the selection out , but i really want an automatic way .
Any ideas ?.

Here's one way, using one line.

Draw a black line from one corner to the other where you want it, making sure it touches or crosses the corners. (If it doesn't touch, crop the picture a little).
Select the background layer, then add a solid color layer, and choose white.
You should now have 3 layers: The background, a color fill, and the line. Make sure the solid color is the 2nd layer.
Hide the background layer (turn off its little eyeball).
Merge the remaining layers (SHIFT-CTRL-E). You'll now have two layers.
Choose the Magic Wand tool and set its tolerance to 0. Select half of the solid color.
Click on the background layer, then click on the eyeball of the solid colored layer to hide it.
You should now be left with a diagonal selection.

Cheers Andre i'll give it a go , i can see how the magic wand would give a triangular selection , but i want to put two different pictures in each triangle . but i'll experiment with your idea and some of my own to see if it's achievable. i'm sure the'res a selection pencil in PS7 but not in Elements. I'll keep you posted
