David, it does look dark, try wider aperture for clowdy weather.

Edit: Geez, I hate posting on the web. The images never look as good. Remember this when viewing everyones images!

Edit: I forgot my comments: I really like this lens. It's every bit as sharp as my Nikon 35mm f2.0. The 24 is a LITTLE smaller than the 35, but is heavier than the 35mm. Both of these lens are very well built. I'm happy with the quality.

I believe I made the right choice when I purchased this lens.

David,

As one born in Chicago, and living in the area, it is my turn to comment.

In Photoshop, I first looked at your image's levels. The long flat highlight side means it can be lightened without loosing much highlight detail. The shadow side (left side) of the levels box shows a mountain of pixels right up to the end, so the picture is underexposed, and you could have given it a bit more exposure. There is enough here to make a presentable image. I moved the right slider from 255 to 188.

Next I looked at curves, and I made two adjustment points. One was to take input 62 > output 128, which brought up the brightness, and then to help maintain what highlight detail was there, I flattened the highlight portion of the curve by dragging input 128 > output 192.

Save.

P.S. We're getting enough folks from the Chicago area to have a party!
