Took this today. Unfortunately I accidentally left the camera at ISO1600 so it's a bit grainy.

may not be what you intended because of the grain, but giving it the sepia treatment makes it use the mistake. Great shot, all. Glad I live south of you, I don't do so well in winter.

Thanks :)
I don't do so well in the winter either. I hate it. If someone offered me a good job down south, I'd take it. Arizona would be nice...

Nice mistake Andre. Worked out pretty well.
84 degrees F here today... I love it, and I love giving people a hard time about it. :D

I love it. Print that sucker and sell it!
Swampy, you might have the warm temps but I'll never trade you my blue sky and fresh air for what you have to see and breathe every day.:p

Thanks Swampy. Yes, I think it worked out well considering. I'm liking it more every time I look at it. Maybe a smaller frame though.
It was about 29F here today. Brr.

Thanks Ron. I think the grain may show up too much at the original size though.

Swampy may have all the heat but i like christmas to feel like christmas , with snow and frost and breath you can see when you exhale . mind you right now all we've got is rain and wind.
Back to this thread.
Andre it's just the right time to go out and shoot naked trees, and thats just what i will do today (weather permitting) . A little bit of mist and i may get some decent shots. watch this space!!.

I'm hoping to go out again today. It is quite overcast outside, but very clear. Yesterday was blowing snow, so today would be an entirely different look. I may pass by the "evil tree" again today to get a different look.

I'll answer on your thread Andre. thanks for your remarks both on my B&W and colour shots . the church was taken as was coming back from the walk, the sun had gone and the mist was coming down , saw the graveyard , had 5 shots left on the C/F card so i took a few . your church shot did inspire me to go out today . Thanks

I can't stop playing with this image. I may get a print made of this version. What do you guys think?

I'm supposed to be working, but hey!
I couldn't resist...I made it look colder yet.

Great images !
As others have said, it may have been accidental, but using the higher ISO has created a wonderfully atmospheric shot which has made a good base for the other interpretations.
I must say Andre, I'm enjoying viewing your tree shots, as many others seem to be - so I'm afraid you going to have to brave the weather a bit more !! :)
But like Brian said - it's the time of year, so maybe it's only fair that we brave the elements as well !
Keith.

Thank you Keith.
I think in this case, the high ISO was a blessing.
I don't mind going out in the weather if there's something to shoot. I may head out in more snowstorms now :)
BTW - I had my local photo place print an 8x8 of the B&W version. It looks pretty good. Unfortunately, square frames are hard to find.

Very nice of you to say that Ron. Comments like that are very encouraging to someone like me who is still learning!

I will check them out, thanks. Could be expensive with shipping to Canada though.
I was at a frame place tonight, and they started quoting me all kinds of prices. Just the matte was $20. I thought, it's just a photo. Not worth it.

Ah .. but it's not ''just a photo'' it's YOUR just a photo, so buy a frame put it somewhere nice, and enjoy it.

not enough. We all have such an investment in this, we'd like a picture of you WITH your picture. <g> Call it ideas for framing.

I actually got two prints done, and put them in different frames. One is for my wall and one is for a friend who liked it.
Here's one

This summer you might catch the same tree with all it's green and hang that one right next to the slumbering tree!

Good idea!. It's not too far a drive, so I'll probably go back there.
