I love this lens! And you can't go wrong for the price!! It's contrasty and sharp...though you get the distortion at the 18mm end like all wide angle lenses. I adjust the distortion in PShop.

1/3 the price of the 17-35 AF-D!! It handles beautifully, it's fast and lightweight. I screw a warm circular polarizer on it with a thin ring mount (Singh ray) and I have not noticed any vignetting.

Let's see: Nikkor 18-35 yada, yada, yada
shot at 18mm
1-250/sec
f: 6.7
EV-0.05
handheld
ISO 100
warm circular polarizer mounted on lens.
In PS: adjusted contrast and brightness with tone
curves.

Hi there

I love this lens too! In a few reviews I've read, it is reported that at 35mm, this lens performs just as well as the legendary 17-35mm AF-S (at one third of the price). Also, the barrel distortion at 18mm is not bad either.

The only thing is that I miss the "ultra-wide" view since the S2 has the 1.5x FOV crop...

Yes, I've read this several times also. A highly recommended lens! I just love it's weight and so easy to handle...feels as comfortable as my 50mm!!
