What's the best way to trigger the shutter remotely?

Depends what you're looking for. If it's just a way to trigger the camera, a standard cable release will work.

If you are looking to do an "unattended" remote trigger, then you'll need a PC with a firewire connector.

To do the unattended shooting, you'll also require the hyper util software, which according to some posts is included in the US version of the S2 kit, but is optional purchase outside the north american market. :(
