My warranty may be coming up in about 2 or 3 weeks. Was wondering what I should do with the camera or if there's an "aftermarket" place to go to to get an extended warranty for this. I said may be in 2-3 weeks because I originally bought it at the end of december, but I returned it somewhere in March I think and got a new one because of back focus issues. I'm not sure when my warranty will be up now. haha. Anyway, suggestions?

Pray. Otherwise, I'm not sure if you can purchase an aftermarket warranty this far down the line. I probably would not have purchased an extended warrany when I bought my S2 this past march, but it did come with a Mack 3 year extended. Whether or not that's worth a rip, I hope I never find out!

I was just cruising the Fujifilm website and under product registration it had info on extended warranties. It indicated that you could purschase an extended warranty anytime that the original warranty was in effect.
Hope this helps.

There is a web site that I have purchased an extended warranty on before, and they were very resonable. I received an e-mail from them the other day and they said they are about to switch over their entire company to all extended warranty's only. The new compay they made a deal with is "WACA". This is the same company that Fuji Film uses for their warranty's. I bet they will be cheaper then Fuji also. As long as you have a camera that has 90 days or more on warranty, they will sell you one. Right now they use Mack, so when they change, you will see a posting on their main page. www.scarolainc.com

Thanks Phill.
I'm still wondering when my warranty started. I bought the camera About December 20th last year. I didn't get it until December 27th. I had to return it because of a back focus issue and it was reaplaced sometime in March this year I think it was with a totally new camera. Now. Does this mean my warranty starts over with the new camera? Heh. I registered both cameras at the time I received them, so I'm hoping the warranty on this one is from March.
Guess I'll check it out and see what these guys say.
Thanks for the link!

I purchased my S2 in jan 03 , when i had the CCD replaced in june , Fuji U.K. stated that the warrantiy was from the camera date of jan , NOT from june .So i'm only getting 6 months on the CCD . so i took out a extended warrenty with a 3rd party camera insurance company. 3 yrs for £70 ($100) .

You say you got the CCD replaced. Was it the CCD or the WHOLE camera? Mine was the whole camera....
Man. No wonder you're so grumpy. What did you get, 4 or 5 hours sleep?

This is as far as I could get on the site without having a registered login.

I tried to register my Japanese model but it was a no go.
They should make it easier to find out information about extended warranties.

Swampy, I don't know if you have found any answers to your warranty questions yet, but you might like to know that my replacement S2 was 'refurbished' therefore it only had a 6 month warranty - which i unfortunately found out after it had expired...

Yes, I found my answer on the extended warranty.
My replacement was a brand new full warranty one since I replaced it at the store I bought it from, brand new in the box.

Just so you know, www.scarolainc is back up. They have extended warrantys for your S2's. If you have at least 90 days left on Fuji's warranty, you can purchase one. You must have a valid sales slip. I went to the site last night, and purchased one for my S2, and when I get my S3, I will but another one. I went for the 60 months, so that way I do not have to worry for a while.
I also checked out the warranty provider, and they are a big company. Sites like buy.com use them, and Fuji Film also uses them for there consumer cameras.

The Mack Camera Repair warranty, which is what is being sold at , www.scarolainc.com, requires that your camera be no more than 30 days old when you purchase the warranty. You can check this fact out at the Mack web site on this page
http://www.mackcam.com/warranty_wheretobuy.html
So, you could buy this warranty and not know that you're not covered until you submit your camera bill of purchase and they see it's been 30+ days later that you bought your warranty extension. That might be 3+ years later!
I e-mailed Mack in re: to the brand new Fuji I will be getting in exchange for a damaged one I have and told them the exchange will occur more than 30 days after the date on my camera sales slip. They said "too bad". That doesn't meet their criterion.
Now, when I actually get my new camera, I will call them on the phone to see if I can reason with them.

OOPS...I erred about www.scarolainc.com. They don't sell the Mack warranty. But, what I've said about Mack still stands.

No, you were right, they did sell the mack warranty. The reason they stopped was becasue of the 30day rule.
With this new comany they deal with, you have until your camera reaches less then 90 days on the fuji warranty. The best part is that when you have 30days left on the extended warranty, the warranty provider will offer an extension to you. I have purchased many warranty's for for a lot of my electronics (TV, Playstation, X-Box, Camera) and they have been just fine for me.

I went to the site that wop suggested, and they did have a very good deal on a 5yr extended warranty. I purchased one for my S2, the warranty from fuji is up in 4 months.
For all those who want to know, the S3 is at PMA this year. Get in line now. I will make sure I pick up a warranty for that to once I buy it. Fuji is going to charge way to much.

What did you guys do to get your cameras REPLACED?
Mine was at the factory for MONTHS, within the first year of FACTORY warrantee, and when it came back it had a new failure. Fuji not only CHARGED ME for the first repairs made, but is refusing to cover the NEW failure...And when I contacted Mack (I bought a 3-year with them when I bought the S2) they just laughed, because it had been to the factory, and was in the Fuji repair system now.
Fuji REFUSES to replace my camera.
This experience has me so disenchanted with them that I'll never buy another Fuji camera of any kind again, no matter how wonderfull it is.
Don't get me wrong, I love my S2 and its feature set, which is why I bought it in the first place - but what I have now is a totally useless piece of plastic and metal - and it will cost me (AGAIN) to make it useable...It's not worth it, and it's not worth the cost of legal action to enforce the warrantee. It's in the trash bin. I can't wait until my D2H arrives. At least Nikon takes care of their customers...
I feel so violated.

Can't speak for your american Fuji , but all the dealings i've had with Fuji UK have been great , sent my S2 in for repairs , got it back the same week , new CCD no charge , sent it in for a damaged media door , got it back within 7 days , very small charge and an apology for the time taken , ordered several small items , (flash cover , eyepiece rubber etc) recieved them next day delivery .
So i'm happy with Fuji UK , just goes to show how differently we're treated .

Brian (Sandman),
We should be treated like this as we have to pay double what the Americans have to
