Got mine in january this year so it's nearly 1, had a accident dropped it down a flight of stone steps , had a new CCD fitted because of it . Lost the cap over the sync terminal , lost an eye rubber , broke the media cover , fixed it with super glue. It's been used and abused. bounced all over the place in my truck , covered in mud, rain and surprise, sand.Might be just a plastic body , but it's stood up to everything really well, took some good , bad, and indifferent pictures. would i spend £2000 on another, YES i would . that says it all as far as i'm concerned..

Brian, a very impressive year! :)
I hope the new S3 will be as durable...
Also it's nice to see you retained your "Senior Member" status! :)

Didn't see the tripod brace...does it look like a neck brace? I'm happy just being a member!!!!
Senior sounds like I should either know a lot more than I do or that I should qualify for discounts.

Brian,
Remind me never to loan you my S2! Or anything else for that matter! :D
If you don't mind my asking, how long did it take Fuji service to do the CCD transplant, and what does something like that cost?

Well scuba, it was over a bank holiday weekend , sent it back to the dealers ,they fowarded it to Fuji U.K. they in turn repaired it and sent it back to the dealer who sent it back t me.......5 days . i was impressed. Cost , don't know it was under warranty. i've been told it can cost half the price of the camera .Of course i did'nt tell them how i damaged it .
Dropping the S2 was'nt really all my fault , got to the top of the stairs , i was holding it in my hand by the lense , when a kid on a skateboard shot by me caught my sleeve and took off , very impressive except he took my camera with him . the media cover proberbly cracked at the same time , so did the sync cover , the eyepice rubber , well they can come off anytime . It still took pictures after that , but on the sunday went blank , no picture just a black screen . so back it went . Luckily i had a U/V filter on and that was badly scatched too.
So i'm not really accident prone , just unlucky .Now i've just got to go and fix the wing on my car which i banged this morning , then patch up the garage roof which caught fire after i was doing some welding , then put some glass in the kitchen window , why do they make ladders so long and awkward. must remember to get the dead fish out of the pond too, how was i to know that the bleach would harm them. The dogs still limping after i tripped over him. Must go can see smoke coming from the cellar .. now where did i leave that soldering iron.!!!!!!.

Naw I was kidding Brian...I would gladly loan anything I have to a fellow S2 user. By the way I was CCDuane for a brief moment before the old forum went down, just changed my name when I re-registered.
Finally got my S2 and a couple of lenses. Will be posting away if the weather ever gets a little more hospitable here. Will look forward and welcome comments from you and others here.
