Email verification is also now enabled, which just means it will take approximatly 1-2 minutes to receive an email from the forum for you to click on to verify your email address. This is how it was on the old forum, and I'll continue with it.
Please make sure your email addresses are correct or your email notifications will not work. :troutsmac

Bryan,
Tried to upload a 161k pic tonight 5 times. Each time failed with this message:
Warning: filesize() [function.filesize]: Stat failed for C:WINNTTEMPphp13A.tmp (errno=2 - No such file or directory) in E:Webforumsadminfunctions.php on line 1827

Just two little things from me -
spelling - "Categorized Forums" - and could you perhaps swap the "Posts" and "Threads" columns round on the index page?
Yours pedantically,
Eddie.:)
BTW, you're doing a fantastic job and I really do appreciate it.

I'm not too worried about eh categorized spelling thing. THAT was part of vBulletins out of the box. I didn't do it, the programmers did!
Anyway, someone else made me aware of it, I think it was JHawk, and I'll add it to the list for future repairs. As for your Thread/post moving... I don't get it.... Maybe it's too early. Maybe I'm just mad cause the photo posted broke last night. Which, BTW, if fixed again.
I won't say what the problem is, but it would appear to be a rights issue from when we fixed the mail send stuff. I've put a temp fix for now and will be working on it throughout the week along with the database.

Programmers eh? When will they learn.:)
As to the arrangement of the columns on the index page, I can't remember how it used to be but I felt it might read better if it flowed from left-right/lesser-greater. It's a silly little point, and I know you have far better things to do so "dinnae fash," as they say where I come from.
Cheers,

Another thing I'm going to add to the list is being able to directly attach ATN files. :)
I'm interested in the video for watching the cement dry.
Right.

Is there a way to have a favorites area for each user to put threads in that are meaningful to the user?
I seen this feature on some other boards. Send a PM and I'll provide you with the details if need be.

PM? Nahhh. Do it right here. Adds to my post count... Hahahaha
I'm thinking what you're looking for is that you'll have the full forums list, but at the top, you'll have a section with your favorite forums listed, possibly not listing your favorites in the main forum listing below.
This may go back to the KISS principle for trouble shooting. If there is a relatively simple way to do it, do I want to? People may ask LOTS of questions about it, but it's something to think about anyway. Do you have a particular forum link that has this feature?
Brian - Wait until I have time to take pictures again and start posting those too... :P

You may have to create an account to see this feature though.
I'm the Don65Stang there as well.

The Categorized thing... It's actually a field in the database. So, we'll fix the spelling (if it can be, which is should) when we work out the other database.

Man Don. That forum is really cluttery looking compared to the simple forums here. Hehe. I think the favorites thing will be a pipe dream if I say I'll look into it and do it.

That is a very fast paced forum. The benefit though is if you ask a question there are litterally thousands of persons that can answer it. If you don't like the answer, repost a day later and you'll get a new crop of users provideing insight.
The downside is that it isn't as personal as smaller forums like this one - which I appreciate.

Brian--
The only thing I've found so far that's not working are email notification links. Email notifications with links to forum/thread that were received prior to merging the two databases last evening are not taking the viewer to the correct forum/thread. The link takes you someplace, just not the right place.
This isn't a big deal for the few "old" email notifications that were received prior to the merge, but if it continues it will be difficult to keep up with who is responding to one's posts.

I believe any emails that went out within the last week will be pointing to incorrect threads now.
The good news is that it appears all new email notifications will have the correct thread links.

Not a problem. It's great that we got the old database back. Great job Blackjack and Swampy!

Bryan,
I wanted to ask you what steps you take to post your pictures?
I've posted shots on DPR when I had them on Pabase already and with this forum, which I like better we can pull them right off our hard drive, correct?
I tried to post a Christmas shot I took but had no luck?? I clicked on the browse button and found the Jpg image and then clicked on submit but after about 40 secs. of trying to upload my 244KB image an error message pops up stating that the transmission took longer than 30sec.
Has anyone else experienced this problem??
Bryan here is the error message I've been receiving?
I'm also curious if others have been experienceing similiar problems??
Here's the error message I keep getting! Hope this can be resolved.
'Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in E:\Web\forums\newreply.php on line 2'
Also whenever I change from topic to topic I seems that I again have to login??

David,
In our Private Messages, I last sent you the following message based off of you wanting to know the different ways of posting a photo here and knowing that you're in the backwoods with a dialup connection.
To correctly post a message with a photo displayed, you will start a new thread and title it or reply to an existing thread. Type your message in the body. Click the browse button, find the photo you want to show, then his submit (or alt-s if you wanna be keyboard savvy...). That's it. If you hit preview after attaching a file, it will remove the picture - this is a bug in vBulletin (or maybe a feature?). I just looked at the configuration settings for the forums and I can't find anything on a time limitation for sending the file, so it would appear that that can not be changed through normal methods. I will ask my buddy if he can find anything about it in the actual vBulletin code, but this will take some time as he's on vacation and I'm sure, after spending many sleepless nights restoring all the data from the crash, that this is the last thing he wants to look at right now.
The IMG button. You can put your picture up on a personal website of some sort. Start your message, click the IMG button and a window will pop up. Put in the address where you put the file (ie: http://www.mywebsite.com/picture.jpg) and click ok. The board will attempt to locate that picture and display it the same way as it would with the browse/attach method. However, if for some reason your website is down, or my link can't get to your website, the picture will not be displayed of course.
There's not a whole lot I can offer you other than this. I will have to look into the 30 second limit, but that will, like I said, take some time. Other than that, get a faster connection on your side (which I know may not be possible in your particular area) or resize the picture to something even smaller.
If you're having luck posting on another website, you may want to post it there and use the IMG button. We're on a temporary connection here, so speed is kinda limited on our side. But it shouldn't be a limiting factor as other people on dialup on the other side of the world aren't having this issue.
As for having to log in every time, I would suggest that you go to your temporary internet files on your hard drive and find any cookie referencing "theswamp" and delete it. Then log back into the board and see if that fixes it.

Sorry for duplicating the question.
I also thought if I showed you the error message you'd see first hand what I was talking about as you did.
As far as a faster connection I would think that would help but don't care to afford the added expense, but it's a thought.
How does the gallery work on this site? Can I post an image there first and then link to it??
The solution I'm using to posting at present as I keep getting asked to login all the time, and I don't find any cookie as you mentioned, is to copy my post first so if I do get knocked off I can paste the messaage in a new post once logged in again.
Thanks again for your help Bryan!
Once again I got kicked off trying to post a message. Possibly I take too long to write my message/s??

There isn't a gallery here, at least that should be working. The old owner popped for a gallery add-on, but it didn't see much use with everyone posting thier images in the photo's section. So I decided not to put it back in. I would think you would have the same problem again there though as you're sending it here to the same site.
If you can't find a cookie in your temp internet directory, then there's the problem of why you have to log in every time. You may have your security settings set too high or something. When you log in, the forum here should automatically create a cookie on your system. However, if your security settings are set too high, it won't be able to do that. Hmm. And I pointed you to the wrong directory. It should be \windows (or Winnt)\documents and settings\<username>\Cookies for Windows 2000 or Windows XP.
The cookie should be your windows login name@theswampbbs[1].txt or it could be [2] or something of that nature. Should only be one cookie from theswampbbs.com. If you don't have a cookie, as I said, that's your log in problem.
Timeout for the board is 15 minutes. If it's taking you longer than that, then (on top of your login problem), this would cause problems.

Just for completeness- you need to go to "user cp," then "Edit Options" and make sure the second line for automatic login is set.

Thanks for your help guys, I wondered about that setting and did have [No] checked/dotted so I'll have to give it a try and find out if that makes any difference??
Thanks again,
