Hi -
I bought my S2 second hand from a fellow whose wife basically said "It cost how much?!?!"
So, I got a pretty good deal on it. The problem is that he bought it in Canada, and the kit doesn't include the adapter. I've done searches on the "AC-5VH/AC-fVHS" code, and the only thing I've come up with is an "AC-5VH" at B&H which goes for around $40. I wanted to verify, because my recollection was that the adpater from Fuji (for some reason) was > $300.
So - anyone know if the B&H adapter is suitable and works fine with the S2?
BJ - I know you answered this before, but I don't remember what you said or if there were any cautions.
Thanks, all

That's the one I got WITH my camera - the 5VH. Should work fine, but I do remember one person that it didn't work for for some reason. I think the camera was messed up or his power supply was bad since it's the one that came with my camera and it's worked for me for a year.

So maybe the 2 sets of numbers are either/or to designate different types depending on plug type. I'll try that one out.
I wanted to verify because the listing at Adorama has this note -
"Not for use with the S1 or S2 Pro Digital Cameras"
So - you're sure it works?
Thanks -

Hi,
Can anyone tell me what is the use of the AC adapter? I got the camera from US and it wasn't supplied with an adapter.
Thanks.

There are 2 basic uses for the adapter.
1. Provide replacement power for the AA's. You could take the AA's and the CR123's out and shoot all day and night (without the on-board flash which requires the CR123's). If you need to shoot with the on-board flash, you'll need to leave the 123's in the camera. Either way, you'll save some or all of your batteries.
2. It is recommended that you use your AC Adapter for cleaning the CCD. To clean the CCD you'll need to do the button combination to lock the mirror up and that combination also holds the mirror up so you have free access to the CCD. When you're done, turn the camera off and the mirror will drop back down. If you use battery power to do this, you run the risk of the mirror flipping down from batteries that may die while you're cleaning the CCD.
Other than those two situations, I can't think of any other reason to have the AC Adapter (I mean, back to the first one, if you're copying images from the camera, you'd probably want to save your batteries by removing them and using the AC Adapter).

#2 is the reason I want it.
Thanks for your advice - I just placed the order.
