Has anyone tried the shooting software? I've been giving it a go for the past several days. It's lots of fun but, I haven't been able to get the results I'm hoping for. I've got the S2 linked to an new ibook with the fire wire cable. The system it self works just as advertised. The problem is in the translation to Photoshop. I've set Photoshop for the Adobe color space and I'm converting the RAW files in the same format. The pictures seem underexposed when I open them in Photoshop. They look great in the preview window of the shooting software. As I'm photographing very small shiny objects this software will be a big help if I can get it to work smoothly?
thanks

My first thought about the images looking under-exposed is that perhaps you are using the wrong metering mode on the S2.
Use Matrix to avoid having hot spots fool the meter.
I use a setting of Std,Std,Std (for color, tone and sharpness)
Check the histogram to make sure that you don't have some high whites overwelming the overall image output.
I don't use a Mac but the camera settings (I'd guess) shouldn't matter.

HI, I bought my S2 here in the USA but did not get the hyper utility just the finepix viewer and the LE converter
Fuji want a further $130 us for the software. To be honest I would buy the software if it was OSX friendly. I have search the net for any news of updates but none found.
Does it work under Classic, or do you have to run OS9 to get it to work.

Anyone had success in using the Shooting software on OSX. It only seems to work on 9.2. Does anyone have an opinion on using it in camera shutter mode or shooting from the computer . I am using it for still life so it's no problem using the computer to fire the camera ,just wondered if you had more control on image.the Also would a TV monitor work as a screen to aid in lining up the shot instead of using the viewfinder..i.e a bigger version of the screen you get on the back of camera but a live picture

What is your gamma set to on your laptop monitor? It should be at 1.8, if it is 2.2 the results will be dark.

One problem that I've seen is that the shooting software provided by Fuji uses the sRGB color space, when you open it in photoshop with Adobe RGB, it tends to look sometimes quite different.

Dean,
If you buy the Hyperutility software for mac ther is a free upgrade to use it on OS X. You must have the original CDs though.
Here is one link.

Try leaving it in SRG space and see what happens ... then after they are open in Photoshop you can convert to Adobe space, maybe the raw conversion is appliing the Adobe space intead of converting ... ???
