Well - I ordered the AC5-VH adapter from B&H and it arrived today. However, it is, contrary to my order form, the AC-5VS. I called B&H to verify that this is suitable for the S2 Pro, and according to them, this is the only adapter Fuji sells in the US and is NOT suitable for the S2 Pro. I've attached a picture of it to compare to the one that Sandman kindly posted a couple of days ago. There are some differences - the image Sandman posted has:
Input 100-240 V ~ 50/60 HZ
0.24-0.15 A
Output 5V == 2A
And, the symbols are considrably different.
So - is this one safe to use with the S2 Pro or not.
After talking to B&H, I called Fuji USA. They said I'm supposed to fax in the invoices to Fuji USA and they'll call me with a price for the adapter. I don't understand why this is so complicated - although the original camera was purchased in Canada, and I bought it second-hand from the original purchaser after he moved to North Carolina.
Any (valid) advice gratefully appreciated.

Everything about it looks ok except the amperage on the output. Mine and Sandman's put out 2amps. Yours only puts out 1.5. This could do two things, underpower the S2 causing it not to function or overheating the Adapter causeing it to burn up and a VERY slim chance of it catching on fire if left on long enough.
I would send it back. You don't have to use the fuji power supply either. But in case of a warranty claim where power damages the camera, it could be an issue. I have the same one as Sandman, which came with my US model camera, so I don't know why B&H has been smoking dope today.

Thanks - it was the amperage difference and the different symbols that concerned me. I think the main problem is that I bought (second hand) a camera that originated in Canada, not in the US.
But, I have the entire paperwork "provenance" to fax to Fuji tomorrow. With luck, I can get an adapter for less than the price of a used lens :troutsmac

Bob. my S2 did'nt come with an adapter, the picture i posted is the same as swampy's but it came with my fuji 6800 , but it works fine , both for downloading M/D's and cleaning the CCD.
I'd do what swampy suggested though and send it back , a 25% voltage difference could result in some problems .

A 25% AMPERAGE difference will make a difference for sure. :P

So... bobt, have you heard anything from Fuji yet? I need an adapter also and have been unsuccessful in finding where to buy one. Fujimall has one listed but it is not available and they told me to call Fuji. Can you tell me what they want you to fax them and the fax number?
Happy New Year.

This is the adapter I got from Adorama.com:
https://www.adorama.com/catalog.tpl?op=details&sku=IBYACCFM&searchinfo=IBYACCFM&item_no=1
It was $25.00 and works fine for me. Yes it is rated at 1.5 amps but I haven't had any trouble with it.

Find a Fuji dealer in Canada. Fuji's Canadian dealers have the proper adapter for about $70us. That is where I bought mine.
When I bought my adapter-less S2 from Canada, I initially inquired at local (USA) shops about obtaining the "missing" adapter. Fuji USA dealers sometimes had them available, but the price was about $320us as I recall. The exact same adapter could be gotten from Fuji Canada dealers for the previously mentioned $70us.
I am sure some Canadian members can direct you to their favorite shops.

Hi,
I bought an adapter from a Melbourne (australia) shop recently, asking for the AC-5VH to be used with the S2. When I got the adapter, it wasn't the AC-5VH, but looks like a generic adapter that is Made in China, and has 5V/1500mAh written on it. The store manager says it will work with the S2. I tried it and it worked beautifully. It cost me AUD$40 (around US$30) which is a bargain compared to what other shops quoted me (ranged from $70-$150).
Just my 2 cents.
Cheers.

The FujiFilm Finepix700 ships with a 5v 1500mA power supply. My S2 came with a 5v 2000mA PSU.
If you are desparate then the Compaq IPAQ 3600 series used to ship with a 5v 2000mA PSU. There are also other brands of supply that are suitable.
I got a spare in CompUSA for $9.95. It was sold as a spare Compaq Ipaq PSU. Same connector and polarity.
Make: SUPERWORLD
Model: DSA-0151F-05
Input voltage: 90-120v AC
Output: 5v. 2.8A
Essentially the camera needs 5v, if the PSU is 1500mA or 2000mA I don't think it would make much difference in real life use.
If it was less (<1500mA) then that the camera would probably be under powered and you would be taking a chance on the camera causing the PSU to burn out as the camera demamnded more power that it could supply !!
Reading the manual it says that the camera needs a AC-5VH or AC-5VHS power supply. I dont know the difference between the two models of PSU.

I checked Henry's Photo website and only could find the two following listings for an A/C adapter.
Are either of these compatible for the S2 (I bought mine from Canada as well).....
DIGIPOWER A/C ADAPTER FOR FUJI (WebCode: 576CEI019)
$35.07 US
DIGICOM AC ADAPT 5V FUJI/RICOH CAMERAS (WebCode: 576CEI036)
$29.84 US
Thanks!
