Nikon today published their plans to introduce the long rumored D70 next spring. A new DX zoom Nikkor is under development too. Nikon says it developed the D70 to respond to the strong demand for D-SLR cameras. The D70 aims at novices as well as experienced enthusiasts. Expected pricing of the body about 1000$-1100 EUR. Nikon today was not prepared disclose further details and technical spefications yet. Read the press release at Nikon.

The camera was announced in early December. At the time, there was virtually nothing about it at the Nikon website. I haven't checked since then.
