That's no 50". This is though. :) Been working on re-modeling the bedroom this past week. All new furniture, new paint (still working on that though, have to do the trim and the doors still) New TV (50" Samsung rear projection HD! - 17.5 inches deep only!) Moved all the AV equipment into the closet, put in wall speakers in (wife is still deciding if she wants to paint those - and has to finish the heating grill too), programmed a new RF remote control... All kinds of stuff. Oh yeah, the 2 foot board posts were actually really tall, but I cut them back so they were low, and am playing around with using the middle sections for frames around the TV. Put a nice subwoofer under the bed too.

I was just taking a few quick snaps to show my dad on Xmas day btw. So no critiqueing please! Haha

Yup. No shoes on. :) Wife would kill me. Hahaha. The Subwoofer is under the bed. Only a couple hundred watts and a pair of 8" drivers. It's only the bedroom. :) My theater has 2000 watts spread across 4 12" drivers though. :D Can't see straight sometimes.

Sorry to go astray on this thread.....

Bryan,
Have you noticed any dead pixels yet? We are on our 2nd Samsung DLP 50". We got ours a year ago. LOVE it! The replacement came a few weeks later. When the tech came out to see how bad our situation was, he said he had never seen so many out.

Nope, no dead pixels yet. I do pay attention to that too. I love the picture on this one. Which model did you get? I got the 507W.

We have the same model. It's great! Of course we had to get a nice sound system, and we now have HD hooked up through our Direct TV dish too. The system ROCKS!

The pixel thing was bad on the original one, at least several dozen dead pixels. It was getting worse & very noticable. It was most noticeable on a screen that was mostly white. The Samsung Tech caem out to inspect the TV. Then took the old one out & gave us a new one, just like that!

We got some sort of upgrade kit over the summer. I guess Samsung changed some little things, and made the fixes available to only the first 200 or so people with the earlier releases of the TV, which is what we have. Now our TV is exactly the saem as the one you have.

ENJOY IT!!!!

Nice! I'm working on HD for this one. Right now all I can get is Cable in my area - Sat doesn't work here with all the trees. :( So the cable company says they can't do 2 boxes in one house. Bah. Told them off and that I had two feeds coming to my house, so they techs said OH. Then you can have two boxes. Ok. Back to sales. They tell me they don't have enough boxes to go around and there is a waiting list for NEW customers to get thier boxes first. I'm like WTH. So, when I go back to work, I'm going to try and go through a back door and get a box myself since we designed the chips that are inside the cable boxes. :)

I save my HD box for my 96" screen downstairs.

Last month we got a SONY 42" LCD rear projection HDTV. It has a memory stick slot. I download to the stick I bought solely for this purpose (don't like SONY Digi cams). Works great. Brighter and more colorful than plasma.

Linda and I have three TVs. A 14" non-flat screen in the computer room, a 27" NEC in the living room and a 27" Panasonic in the bedroom. They are on most of the time but no one ever watches a full program unless it is Law and Order or for Linda, ER. The 27" tvs are both hooked up to surround sound but once again, not used that much. I mainly listen to CDs in the living room. Used to be an audiophile but not any more. My money goes into systems in my autos. Lots of amps, lots of speakers (separate tweeters, mid range and bass---and NO SUBWOOFER. I like the music (mainly classical or softer rock) to be heard over the wind noise when the Porsche has the top off. The "hot damn" Camaro also needs lots of power because it is a somewhat noisy ride. Linda's Jeep Liberty has stock system. In my cars, the GPS serves as my TV :)
As an aside, when I am asked to sit as a judge pro tem, I used to do traffic which included the noise statutes. It was amazing what decibel level the cars with subs would make. Don't understand the need for that much bass when my opinion is that clarity and not noise is paramount.

Lots of amps---or one BIG one. :)

6 channel Zapco in the trunk of my car. 12 speakers in all.

Obviously, you and Swampy are "special". Mine only came with 6 speakers...(sigh!):o

As Swampy will probably tell you, sometimes it ain't the number of speakers that count. Lots of factors in choosing, mounting, placing speakers for the best sound stage. It is a daunting task to place enough speakers in the right places to get a good soundstage in my Porsche. Lots of differences in where the receiver needs to be tweaked as to if one window is down, if both are down, if the top is off, etc. Mine has a grand total of 6 with 4 in the original positions and two more in an unobtrusive place where they did not need modification of the panels.

It does work well.

more speakers than SEATS!

Yes, more is not always better. My stock stereo came with 13 speakers and I only put 12 back in. 2 were not in the original location. However, I wouldn't mind putting that 13th one back in, but the processing unit - I don't have one that will do what the stock one did, so I'm stuck. The 13th speaker was in the center of the dash and really made a big difference in the stage. It really filled the center where now, it's kinda one side or the other depending on how you move around. I'll agree somewhat with Mel and his subwoofer hatred. Most cars are not done correctly. All bass and nothing else. That's wrong. That's some kid who needs attention and that's the only way they know how is to destroy something. Air vandelism if you will. :) Of course, it probably has a little to do with the small, uh, "thingy" envy as well.

My subs don't radiate halfway across town. The sound from them is tuned to stay pretty much in the car. I can make it comfortable, I can make it so you can't see anything but blurry stuff in the mirrors, or I can even make it so you just can't see if you want. But I'm not rattling things off of peoples shelved in thier houses at any level. But I do apprciate it when I hear John Williams command a kettle drum and it's THERE. :)

I am so sorry that you are listening to John Williams in your car.
Thats all.

Nothing wrong with John Williams at all..classical is incredible when it's cranked up...but you can't beat "Born To Be Wild" at max volume, either.
