Hi there,

Santa was kind to me this year and brought a Nikon 70-180mm Micro lens. It is wonderful. I guess I was a good boy this year ;)
What new gadgets did you get?

No, I didn't forget. Here is the short list.
A laptop computer
Various books that I wanted
A package of T-shirts
Wassabi flavored dried peas (yummmm)
A long sleved T-shirt
A side of beef (I BBQ a lot)
A couple of DVD's
A jar of really good Kim Chee
And a picture of my Grand Daughter
It was a pretty fine day for an old Grandpa.

Most of my Christmas gifts were early ones:
1. Trip to Romania
2. 2 shirts from my kids
3. A trip to Dallas to see my kids
4. Nikon Capture 4
5. A Kansas University and Iowa University collar for my two dogs.
You see, Linda and I buy something we want and then say, that is for Christmas. If you count all the things we said that for, we would have you here all night.
The best gift I received was yesterday when I saw the look on Linda's face as her exhibit was being hung and when people would come over to her and ask if she was the artist and then give her some WOWs. She worked hard and long to get it ready and hated to leave it.
I also was asked to exhibit my wildlife work at the same gallery for the month of June so more mounting, framing and travel. This was a nice gift.
The final gift we both had was to be with family and friends during the Christmas eve and Christmas day. Can't beat that with a stick.

Everyone just gets me Best Buy gift cards, which is fine with me. I'm thinking about one of those DVD recorders myself. I also got a very roomy Lowenpro camera bag that I badly needed, and I got one of those Black and Decker stud finders that shoots out a laser line so you can hang stuff straight. Could there be a hint there perhaps?
But mainly I got a few days off from my job at Fuji medical and I'm spending Christmas with my sister and nieces. For the first time ever, my parents had to be away at Christmas. I have a very sick great aunt in Florida, and they are down there to be with her. Thanks to my S2 and the help I get from everyone here, I was able to email Christmas pictures to my parents and great aunt. That was thr best present of all.
Thanks to everyone, and here's to a great new year! :righton:

I don't request it, but with my birthday 2 weeks from Xmas, it kinda gets a little jacked and mixed up together anyway.

Santa is always good to me, this year instead of the typical gemstones/jewelry he put more thought into it,
Nikon 70-200vr
Nikon 35 1.4
Bogan monopod
Bogan tripod
4 photoshop books
tamrac backpack
(I do believe Santa wants to send me hiking or something!)
Bronze wolf book ends
Statue of a wolf
Microfleece jacket with wolf scene (guess I’ll need that on my hike, it really doesn’t get cold in So CAL LOL)
Dog prints on pillowcases, tote bags, and linen napkins
A teddy bear you put in the microwave so all the herbs smell, sort of an aromatherapy thing.
AND my most favorite gift, my husband had a jeweler design and make a pendent of my two “boys” well you can call them dogs, Majestic & Rebel in 18kt, which is just beautiful. I have a lot of custom jewelry however this piece is very special because of the subjects.
Naturally the most precious gift is having my husband and family with me, I hope Santa brings me that each and every year.
Wishing you all a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year!

Once the dogs are mounted on the pendent do you still have to feed, water, and walk them? And, how would you like to wear this guy around your neck?
Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Hi Wayne,
Not only do they have to be fed, watered, and walked they POOP!
Good thing they aren't on my neck one at just under 100lbs and the other over 110lbs I would be walking on all fours if they were on my neck
AWWWWWWW he's too cute! Obviously loveable, and cuddly, naturally he's on the sofa where any good doggie should nap, and a pillow to boot! Well....I guess I better start those neck exercises!!!

Oh man... That PS2 was on my list too, I have heard that it is the gift for any expecting father... but Santa did bring me a new G5 and a 17" flat screen along with some new software and this really cool traditional scanian goose:

What a haul. I would be filing Chapter 7 papers right now with a few creditors very upset if I had bought all that. The trip to Romania and earlier in the year to Germany kind of put a damper on Linda and I exchanging gifts.

I WHINE very well ;) It's a gift, everyone's got to have a talent ya know! Actually my husband several years ago learned the joy of giving gifts and tends to go a bit overboard. He says it makes him happy who am I to argue? :D
The best gifts of all are and will always be the ones you can't buy, health and happiness, and love, when you've got those your RICH, all the other is just 'stuff' Sounds like your rich to me.

Timo - It HAS been a good year for me financially. Stocks are up and after putting in some 3 years of really dedicated work at the office (talking sometimes 20 hour days 6-7 days a week), I have finally been able to take advantage of some of the options that were granted to me. Not the million dollars I was expecting that some people got to actually see, but oh well. It was a learning experience. However, some of the financial goodness came with some personal badness with the loss of so many family members this year, I also ended up with some other funds from all that.
Hmm. Gave my daughter a PS2 for one of her gifts. ;) Goes right there next to my Xbox. I mean my son's Xbox. :)

3 puzzles, 1 of which I don't think is possible to put together....1000 piece puzzle made up of thousands of tiny pictures to make one large picture.

It's actually pretty cool. I don't touch-type, but I keep the computer room fairly dark. This plugs into the USB port on my keyboard and lights it up.

I get dizzy even thinking about it. I took it off the driver's seat and put it on the passenger seat. Anybody want to try it out?

Comfort seemed to be the theme for presents for me this year. One daughter got me a new robe (Nice! no holes!) and the other got a neck collar massager since I always have a neck ache.
As Mel mentioned, gifts to each other are all year long. I mean, this was the year of the Fuji S2! One to him, one to me.

I lost my job at the end of May ... so, of course I had to 'treat' myself to compensate!:)
Tamron 28-75
Sigma 15-30
New camera bag of course (mini-Trekker)
1GB card
Polarizer
24 rechargeable NiMh (in addition to all of the other ones I have for my other digitals!)
20 CR123a's (paid about $1.30 each instead of $5 at the stores!)
Oh yeah - an S2
(Then I had an excuse to upgrade to PhotoShop CS!)
Boy, I sure feel better :D
There is some good news financially for this however - I did get a partial reimbursement from my former company as some of the expenses went to retraining - A local pro is teaching me some studio lighting techniques ...
(by the way - I did buy my wife and family a few things as well! - had to spend some of that severance money!)
Happy New Year Everyone!

Swampy -
You're wrong about the rear lens cap. They're not Tupperware, they're recycled, reject Pringles lids :p
I got several nice photography books, including the commemorative "Ansel Adams at 100." About 165 pages and about 15 pounds (weight, not currency!). It comes with a lithograph AA print, lithographically "signed" by St. Ansel himself.
BTW, Tom, despair.com is my favorite web site (after this and Nikonians)

Michael - I love the flashtrax. Maybe not the best picture in the world on its screen, but I don't really plan on using it for viewing too much, but I wanted the screen just in case. Being able to play MP3's and movies on it as well as through a TV is a great bonus too!
LW - I just want my income to be tax free. Sheesh. That was nutz how much in taxes I paid last year! And BTW - yes, you will get in trouble if you post other peoples images without thier permission here.
